Dusk Golem commented on this recently in a 3 part tweet, here is the quote:So according to Dusk Golem, the remakes of RE0 and CV could be underwhelming.
Right. So obviously they put effort into the RE4 remake, because it's freaking RE4. No fanboy would have been happy if they had let M-Two screw it up. But if he's actually right, where does the loyalty lay with Capcom?
I agree RE7 was a good start but didn't nail it in terms of the characters, particularly Ethan Winters. I think part of that was because they made it as a VR title in first person with the idea that you were supposed to feel like you were the main character. You'll notice the RE7 director Koshi Nakanishi didn't have anything to do with RE8, so I think that was Capcom deciding to try and do something more with Ethan Winters while Koshi Nakanishi went on to work on RE9 that won't feature Mr Winters. I have a theory that Chris appears at the end of RE7 to introduce what's coming in RE9, but we'll have to wait and see. I look at RE8 as more of a side story and that RE9 will be a return to something more related to the main series.I definitely wouldn't mind having the characters retire or die in a heroic way. But this need to whore out too many sequels is crazy. It's why RE has stopped being survival horror, and while the games are still good, I do miss how they used to be more tension filled.
They could still maybe use them in cameos, like how Chris came on the chopper to help Ethan. You see, RE7 was a good start, and while I don't think it quite has all the bells and whistles of what I love, it was a good effort. I'd love to see new, ordinary type characters. Not just military or law enforcement kinds.
But the next time this happens, I really don't want to find out they've been hiding his or her face, even in the third person perspective.
