General Random Thoughts: Biohazard/Resident Evil edition

Like I said, revisiting 1998 needs to stop, lest Capcom will be stuck in Raccoon City for good. It begins to feel like Capcom is another one trick pony, not capable of doing anything other than constantly rehashing old storylines. 🌆

And they say a magician needs to try new tricks. 🪄 🔮

Interesting that you mentioned remake cause ı was playing that recently again to record my session.

There could be a Sony event soon, so I think news on the series will come this summer anyway.

Probably gonna be a case of Capcom promoting RE9 first, as the first game's anniversary is not until 2026. That will likely happen next year.

So this is something that ı'm gonna try which is about ranking the characters that ı enjoy in a way that's fitting to my preferences:

Chris > Claire > Ada = Carla > Sherry > Barry > Piers > Moira > Leon = Helena > Rebecca > Jake > Sheva > Jill

I found these fanarts. I think ı like this team-up, if they brought back these characters to a new story after re6, it would be nice in my opinion.

Gonna try to not be too mad at Capcom going forward. I'll judge their games accordingly as they are released. But I won't be worrying about what they do so much any more, as there's no point.

At the end of the day, they're gonna proceed on regardless of how we feel and potentially wreck the franchise with more mediocre titles. But at least they cannot Star Wars the hell out of the classics. They are always gonna be there.

I was thinking about this and the reason why ı still like sugimura and suga's writing styles compared to iwao's is due to their writing styles feeling conclusive and self contained which also makes them feel consistent to iwao's. Re2, survivor, recv, re0, dead aim, degeneration, darkside chronicles, damnation and re6 all have concluded stories without any loose ends. Ever since both of their absences, there have been too many loose ends left with the future stories and the storyline becomes less and less enjoyable as it continues. Thankfully re:4 was still surprisingly enjoyable for what it was but ı still didnt play revillage nor ı ever will due to how unrecognizable that entire trashwreck feels. I wished they fixed re7 and re:2's stories by making them faithful adaptions to re6 and re2 respectively, ı think those 2 games would benefit from a fixing compared to the stories before them.

It's hard to keep up with all the remakes and revisitations to Raccoon City. The year 1998. Europe. Whatever Capcom is doing. But why must this be the case? 🤔

Let's see, here. What are they gonna do when no more (good) games can be remade? 😆

In my opinion none of the games after the 1st one up to re6 needed any remakes anyway. Rather than capcom wasting time crippling good games with re engine interpretations, they could fix the more problematic games which in my opinion, re7 and re:2 fit to this description very well. If re1 can get another interpretation, then why cant re7 and re:2 either? Those 2 games would benefit from a refix cause they aged very poorly over time along with their empty and lifeless writing styles.

I downloaded retroarch to steam. I started playing recv's dreamcast version while also taking screenshots and ı find myself enjoying it so far there. I also tried to play darkside chronicles on dolphin but ı cant make the controls work with keyboard and mouse while ı can still play it with a controller albeit not very fitting regarding the controls.

I wish I had a decent survival horror game to play. It's boring being in my flat all day long, watching horror movies. Some are entertaining enough, but lately I have found most of the ones I watch to be a slog. Luckily for me, I know a site where you can watch free movies, so it's not like I'm losing money since someone else uploaded them.

It's sad, but I feel like my childhood or teenage era is getting kind of replaced with loads of mundane, torpid bull crap. I don't think gamers these days know what they missed with the early RE games, Silent Hill, and so on. Those were the good old days. But last gen was solid, with The Last of Us 1 and 2, The Evil Within 1 and 2, and Days Gone. Then comes the slew of God awful Silent Hill games after 2008. The movie was decent, but then they just copied it for the games. And RE7, etc, are not the best, to be honest.

Admittedly, it's to do with the money side of it. Capcom has to cater to action fans, and Fortnite and all that rubbish has presented a problem with upgrades and microtransactions up the ass. Games now have to be so simple, with dumbed down puzzles. But the gameplay itself just doesn't feel right.

I found this video. I think queen leech's portrayal in re0 is one of the best things about the series. I prefer it over outbreak's hive scenario and umbrella chronicles.
