General Random Thoughts: Biohazard/Resident Evil edition

I think people would buy the games if they were made available, for nostalgia, and because it's easy to store in this cloud server or hard drive. Not many people probably want to hunt for a PS2 these days.

I used to think they were relatively inexpensive consoles, but I don't think they are that cheap any more, because greedy sellers up the cost now on eBay, etc. Retro is money.

I hope you can find a cheap original PlayStation. There's actually a panel you can remove at the back so you can connect a cheats device. Assuming you like to have unlocked content. There's also a lot of other underrated games worth seeking out, although they will probably cost a mint by now.

Normally, these Action Replay cartridges would come preloaded with multiple cheats like, you know? Infinite ammo or health, and so on. Eventually though, companies just did away with this type of thing, probably because they didn't want people complaining about folk hacking the games to gain a ridiculously high advantage over other players.

Anyway, I won't be around here any longer. My mum has just been taken off dialysis. She's not really responding in the hospital bed any more because they heavily sedated her. So the end is basically near. I will be absolutely struggling when she's gone, but she would want me to stay strong, and strive to become a better person...

All the best. Peter.

My late grandmother took a shine to Steve Burnside. I remember she said it was rotten how he became a monster, not getting to live a happy life with Claire. But that was the fault of 'that crazy woman' (Alexia Ashford) for having injected him with her virus. 😅

Yeah. In 2002, I bought a GameCube and a PS2. Friday nights were spent keeping her company. She passed away in August of 2004, sadly.

Totally.

RE7 isn't quite as bad as RE8 is. But it's still bad.

:D

Well, I agree that Chris was kind of just inserted for the fan appeal. Otherwise, it barely feels like a sequel whatsoever. Plus, I think his redesign is ass as well. It looks like he went back to his RE1 era self, just like poof.

And yeah. That silly part where the cop doubts Ethan's plea for help. Like, what the freaking fudge is he a member of the fuzz for anyway? 🤣

The bingo scene in the beginning of RE4 is a metaphor. Leon represents the fans who think more critically of the series while the Ganado going towards the church bell represent the rest of the fans who follow trends. It’s irony in itself because the original and the remake both represent two different shifts where alienation and creative differences have taken over.

Yes. I bought them as they came out, with the exception of that boring ass Netflix series. Although on eBay, it's hard to tell what's Region 2 as they all look like Region A, or whatever the US code is called.

I can still play the old RE games, because my flat-screen TV has a scart socket. Otherwise, you need to purchase this AV to HDMI lead.

I haven't played games in ages, to be honest. I completed RE6 months ago, as I felt like playing something a bit more fast paced.

In general, I think the best games in the whole franchise are RE2, the original, the first remake, and RE3. Closely following is CV and RE4.

My love for CV has waned alot along with RE0 over the years. There is just so much BS in those games that it doesn't make them necessarily fun to play through. Most of the bosses I groan every time I reach them like "oh here we go again." That is a feeling I shouldn't have when playing a game.

RE5 2nd Uroboros fight with the flamethrower is perhaps one of the worst boss fights in the series due to how glitchy it can be. You can't even tell if you're doing damage to it or not and it takes forever. I always save a rocket for that boss, along with Salazar in OG RE4. Salazar in RE:4 is one of the few things I liked over the original more but that is not saying much.

You still like all the games of the series starting from the 1st game up to re6, correct?

Up to Revelations 2 I'd say is the end of RE games being good. RE7 arrived less than 2 years after that, and this is when I think my interest gradually depleted. Then the remakes arrived. That's when this dude called Nemesis on YouTube stopped being the "saviour" of the franchise, instead opting to become just another shill for Crapcom. He deleted all of his rant videos, which were pretty epic at the time. Once he started getting interviews with the voice actors as well, that's when he became such a Capcom kiss up.

It's really lame, to be honest. I thought everything he said was sincere, but it just goes to show that people can quickly change once an opportunity arises for to gain recognition. But I remember telling him that nobody at Capcom knew he was, like he proclaimed. So he just did all of this to make himself seem cool.

I wasn't too fussy about the first Revelations game on the ship, but playing as Barry was well, quite barry. And also, the gameplay is really good, and the story drawed me in. But after that, I will have to say no. The franchise just sucks nowadays. So I've more or less decided that I'll just keep the best parts of the series as good memories.
