RE9 Apparently, all the RE9 leaks were BS...

The relatively few bad spin off games aside, RE does continue to inspire.

Definitely get 'Signalis' vibes here but with a protagonist who looks like more like Claire rather than a Chinese lesbian. xD

Will follow! I enjoyed Signalis despite a few questionable story elements and if this one can improve on that, great!

Funny how Biohazard is the literal only franchise where I disagree with nearly 100% of all opinions posited by journalists and leakers like Dusk Golem and laugh everytime I read an attempt at analyzing the history of the series!

I think it's because most Western journalists don't understand eastern concepts and trajectories very well so you hear lots of stuff like "RE4 wildly regarded as the bestest evarrr!!" w/o even attempting to understand what Biohazard from the getgo meant and why it did so well to begin with.

RE6 feels like the last of that particular line of games. Which has me thinking that RE9 could be the tailend to a first person trilogy. That seems to be how the pattern goes with a similar style with 1, 2 and 3, etc. But who knows?
What's interesting is that Shadows of Rose DLC for RE8 only had third person camera, and when they released it they also added a third person camera option for the RE8 main game. I think this confirms that the next game will have a third person camera, perhaps you'll be able to choose between first person and third person.

Also director Kento Kinoshita said Capcom is "creating the Shadows of Rose story to conclude the Winters family saga", so I'm looking forward to the story moving on combined with the awesome gameplay from RE7 but with a third person camera. I feel like it's all coming together and the next game has a chance at being something special

Yeah. It would make sense to give players an option to have all the respective camera angles from the series' legacy. Even indie games are capable of having that in them.

Game development is very costly and cumbersome these days so while it would definitely be awesome to be able to switch between 1st person, 3rd person, and fixed camera angles, unfortunately I don't see it happening. I'd be happy with the 1st and 3rd person options though, as they work great in other open world games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls (assuming the game is going to actually be open world of course, not confirmed but with this unusually long development cycle I think we can give it the benefit of the doubt that this game will be bigger and larger in some ways).

Yeah, I played Fallout 4 entirely with the third person camera zoomed all the way out. It made me think about what an open world RE game might be like.

Recently when I played through the GOG releases of the original trilogy, I found the fixed camera angles frustrating even though I have nostalgia for them. You often can't see a zombie your character is looking directly at because it is off screen. So I'll be happy with a third person full 3d camera, hopefully we get that option.

Playing through TLOU2 again, some of the areas are foe open, as in open but segmented. I think that would be a great way to dip their toes into the open world style without over committing. Whatever it is it is at this point, it's much too far into dev, but hoping it's along those lines.

"Open but segmented" would definitely be best for RE, yes.

My only concern is that too much freedom of movement kinda erodes survival horror a little bit, so they would have to do something to keep the suspense and the tension intact. Maybe some kind of unscripted stalker type of Mr. X could be omnipresent to keep you on your toes as you traverse the world.

It could present an opportunity to introduce new enemy types. Kind of like when the zoo animals in Raccoon City got infected, and went on a rampage. That was unique at the time. 🐘 🐅

Like imagine finding a cave where zombies sleep at night, like in Days Gone. That would have you mashing those buttons for sure. 🤯
