SH will never overtake RE commercially. But even SH is starting to not feel like SH anymore.
Two games concern Japanese women. One being set in Japan proper and the other (albeit free game) we got a year ago, is based in a German town. But Silent Hill is in Maine.
Yeah, the events of 4 was in a different town, but it had ties to Silent Hill. Now they're just doing games and not even setting them in the titular region. Thus, why call it "Silent Hill" anymore?
I didn't expect RE to be about Raccoon City forever, but the idea of 1998 and all that has been milked to death since the demise of the city in the original RE3. Movies. Netflix. Games. Novels. The same outcome.
I just think it's time to leave it behind. They'll likely start to milk other time periods, though. So I guess they may as well keep milking the heyday of the franchise when it was at its best.
