I really enjoyed revisiting the original game that started it all with the re-release of Resident Evil on PC, and now finally Resident Evil 2 is about to be re-released on August 27th.
RE2 is out!
I still wish RE2 had gotten the REmake makeover. But by 2019, that style was more or less relegated to the indie titles.

For me this is going to be a special playthrough because I haven't played RE2 since 1998 and even though I finished it multiple times I only played as Leon because back then I thought it just had a male, female character select. So I have never played as Claire!

At this point, I don't mind getting them digitally. As long as I can enjoy them again one day, the absence of a case and manual doesn't present a big concern.
Ditto. It was due to RE2 that I got into survival horror. The rest just followed naturally.

Resident Evil 3 (GOG version) is now out. I just got done downloading my copy for when I bought the package back in June.
I've got it now too. As with the other 2 if you install the Japanese version you can use Classic Rebirth with it, which includes a rendering fix that improves it significantly.

Yeah it looks amazing but you need the render fix from Classic Rebirth. And Jill's classic outfit is available from the beginning too.
Classic Rebirth works properly with it you just need to install the Japanese language version when installing from GOG
I bought these but aside from booting them up to check em out real quick, I haven't actually played through them yet (too much on the backlog I'm trying to work through). This looks fantastic, I'll have to download the render fix when I feel like replaying these finally.
I have a lot of love for GOG and their no DRM, but I don't necessarily mind it given the convenience. I too would love to have in my Steam collection and play on my Deck OLED anywhere I go with cloud save.
You'd still have to use desktop mode to set up the mods to be fair, but that's a one time thing.
Is there any word if Capcom will allow GOG to release future Resident Evil games beyond the third? I would love to get CODE Veronica X, 4, 5 Gold, Survivors 1, 2, Dead Aim, and Outbreak 1, file 2 from GOG.
If I could get all my PS1 and 2 games onto something modern such as PC or PS4, that means my PS3 with those older games on it will be useless and I can free up the space it's taking.

We will only know if they announce something. But considering the cost of unopened copies on eBay, etc, it would be a better option.
They are very cheap to buy digitally anyway. There was a sale, so some are going for like a fiver on the PS store.
