I'm in the process of reading this more current (2024) e-book called "Make Amazing Games" and it uses a software (didn't come with the e-book) that has a free or pay version called Fusion 2.5 by Clickteam.
I want to make my own video games either for Steam or for mobile devices because I'm still struggling with long-term unemployment due to having Asperger's (autism) which no employer has made it possible for me to land work. So I want to create my own indie gaming product to sell for money, if I can. I want to know is, is there a gaming engine that uses 1990s style graphic animation and gameplay? I prefer games from that time period more than modern games. I think I can better with 2D animation with 3D backgrounds. Such games I would like to my own version of would be: Mortal Kombat I II, Street Fighter II, Legend Of the Mystical Ninja, Ninja Turtle beat 'em ups, and Pinball Arcade and Mario. Of course, I can't make it too exact, but close enough to make it legal to sell.
Some game ideas I have are as follows:
Fighting games like from the SNES era
Something pinball related
Something cards related
Some kind of gold and jewel puzzles
Beat 'Em Up games
Something I can use my own classic style Japan animation characters for any project
So does anyone here know of any good gaming engines that are easy user friend and won't break the bank (I live on $644 SSI monthly payments, so keep that in mind) that can make it to where I can create the style of games as if it were from 1985 - 1999 NES, or SNES? Any input would be appreciated. I should point out that I'm operating on Windows 11 on a custom built PC 1TB m.2 SSD and Intel i7 CPU if it makes any difference on if you guys here can tell me what I like to know.
I recently created my own website (https://www.tmntforever.com/) and I've taught myself how to build and fix PC desktops before there was YouTube. I just did it. I should be just as capable of making my own gaming or mobile apps. As you can tell, this autistic guy loves tech a lot and wants to make a good living with it.
