Perry's novels aren't part of the canon. Raccoon is likely close to Chicago which puts us in either Illinois or Missouri. If the novels are canon, according to the 4th novel "Underworld" during the prologue, Raccoon City is in Pennsylvania. Remember, Raccoon City does have mountains.
Are there any examples like this from gameplay, rather than just the opening scenes?CAPCOM did some research on Boston while developing 3, they later went to New York for OB, the area surrounding the Manhattan bridge was used as a reference for some of the urban areas that later appeared in the outbreak scenario.

not from the top of my head. Although I suspect that the clock tower was based of the custom house tower in boston. Are there any examples like this from gameplay, rather than just the opening scenes?
It's been a while but I do remember some stuff like the Grady's Inn location and the deleted shot of Jill in the street with The Shawshank Redemption characters.

Shawshank redemption? That’s one crazy crossover. I couldn’t find anything on thatAre there any examples like this from gameplay, rather than just the opening scenes?

This spot always screamed NYC to me, felt like the high upper west side.CAPCOM did some research on Boston while developing 3, they later went to New York for OB, the area surrounding the Manhattan bridge was used as a reference for some of the urban areas that later appeared in the outbreak scenario.
It's kind of deceptive because Hard mode is really Normal mode. If you select the easier mode it will start you with more weapons and be a cake walk. (Disclaimer: There may be differences between modes in different versions)Guys I, uh, am I crazy or is item management nonexistent in the 1999 version of re3?
I was trying to play honest but after I kept being handed gunpowder, I started walking down everything with the shotgun that wasn’t named Nemesis.
Yeah along with health kits there are the parts to build the STI Eagle and the M37 shotgun (2 for each) and eventually you find the assault rifle given straight away in easy mode.I ducked nemesis at every opportunity so maybe not everything. Is there a reward for killing him outside of forced interactions?
Most definitely going to replay it again tonight. I held off looking it up online but I saw the in-game files of there being more variations of certain types of ammunition to craft, and apparently the ammo gets stronger the more you craft it. So that’s going to be interesting to experiment with.Tbh having so many types of gunpowder is the reason to replay, to see different endings or character locations. Was Carlos in the diner or the press office, where did the other guys like Nicholai and Tyrell appear etc.
IIRC back then too Last Escape was marketed as a bit more action for the series, the series had began to have a difficult stigma around it. They wanted more gunplay to complement the dodge or something of that nature. Of course in the end though the dodge mechanic, while absolutely godlike, was never really the most new player friendly mechanic. That era was so unapologetically Japanese in game design and I adore it. Games like Outbreak with just frames, i-frame weapon dodges and more... my fav era of gaming.I was playing on the Hard difficulty. It’s really as you said Burton. It’s kind of funny; I was stressed for a while because I was wondering what was going to be thrown at me since I was allowed to hold +80 shotgun shells, multiple variations of grenade rounds, magnum ammo etc.
I had a really hard time in 0, 1, Leon A, so it really was therapeutic when I realized I could go Rambo on everything on for once.

Why does every RE title I end up liking has a stigma around itIIRC back then too Last Escape was marketed as a bit more action for the series, the series had began to have a difficult stigma around it.
