I was watching Bawkbasoup's reaction and he theorized that Grace Ashcroft is the secondary character that you play for some of the game and that the main character might be someone like Leon. Then Dusk Golem posted this:
If that does turn out to be true, I think I would have preferred for them to have shown Leon now so I could have had more of a sentimental reaction to the trailer. That being said I am excited to find out more and am looking forward to seeing some gameplay too.

Man, reacting to this late because I was out with friends celebrating after the reveal but my god. The tone, the ruins of raccoon city, the vibe, I fucking love it and can't wait to see more! Capcom you're killing it! We suspected it was RE engine at the start but I lost my shit once they showed the crater.
It seems that Alyssa Ashcroft has passed away.

There is also The Sinking City 2 coming out in December. Or now would be a good time to get into any number of the retro (but unfortunately, now ultra rare and pricey) horror games from yesteryear.

There are a few unidentified voices in there, I thought I heard Jill at one point.
It's definitely a trailer that leaves you desperately wanting to know more, with some big reveals to come.
I wonder if Capcom have their own event planned in the near future

At least we got an interesting reveal out of Summer Games Fest. It was in a "We're working on it" skit, like RE2. But as soon as the show wrapped up, there it was: RE9.

I think they'll do both storylines. The storyline where Capcom wraps up the whole RE2 storyline, and then rebuilds. I don't think we got a definitive conclusion to RE2. RE4, RE5, RE6, RE7, AND RE8 (Village) all took place elsewhere, so yeah... I don't think we got that "ending." This is possibly that.It seems that Alyssa Ashcroft has passed away.

I'd like to think 2:55 is Leon:

Perhaps 2:57 is a flashback of Alyssa, or even current and she's not actually dead:
"Please know that you are my hope."
Since I'm no longer into modern gaming, I think I'll just watch the gameplay through YouTube walkthroughs just for the sake of following up on the continuation of the story. Besides, I don't even own a PS5 and unless all my previous games going back to the golden era of gaming on it, I see no point in getting it for me at least. At least my PS4 has older games and pinball arcade.
Not that I'm wishing for any delays but I was hoping the game and the walkthrough videos would be out about the time of the 30th anniversary which is late March 2026, but it's going to be late February instead.

I believe Dusk mentioned that the voice at 2:55 is Carlos/Chris's voice actor (Jeff Schine). I'm hoping either Nick Apostolides or Matt Mercer return to voice Leon over changing his voice again.

These actors can and have voiced many different characters so because we hear a specific actor doesn't mean a specific character is in the game. It can of course! But doesn't mean it is that black and white.Oh, please no.

I definitely appreciate that this is more survival horror focused than the usual "Wherever the red dot goes, ya bang" oriented stuff Capcom has made.

So Requiem.... nice its finally revealed.
People theorizing the guy with the hoodie in the trailer is connected to Umbrella, (it could be someone previously connected to them, like Nicholai, or Brandon Bailey or Daniel Fabron or some other villain from CGI movies) i just don´t think revealing a hooded guy as former Umbrella lackey could count as a real surprise, and it would kind of be just too dumb if either Albert Wesker or Spencer came back....
worse even if the dude is some kind of clone from a villain. maybe the dude´s face wasn´t revealed because it has the likeness of one of the game´s developers (like don´t you find suspicious Maggie Robertson was raising the blood cup then later Takeuchi was seen holding a cup too...
So there´s a chance the hooded man was modeled after Takeuchi likeness, to become a new villain for Requiem, and might as well become a recurring villain?
However i am inclined to think the hooded guy could turn out to be a cloned bow of either Leon or Chris? Imagine if you playing as Leon had to fight your own clone or a Redfield clone, even worse if such a bow was able to retain some of his original counterpart combat skills?
But to me it would be cooler if somehow made a callback to some classic chars like Steve Burnside, Piers Nivans, Neil or even Jake Wesker?
I would promptly discard Ethan as a suspect since Shadows of Rose implied he was trapped in the Megamycete after the campaign events.
so my 4 top preferred suspects list would be:
1) Just for fun they used Jun Takeuchi´s, Hideki Kamiya´s or Shinji Mikami´s face and will turn one of them into a recurring villain.
2) A cloned version of one of the old classic heroes (exception it that it just wouldn´t work if that was Ethan) most likely a Leon bow just to make an easter egg that references Resident Evil Gaiden, Jake Muller (that would be an interesting twist, like father like son) or some one like Piers Nivans (unlikely as he was infected with C-Virus) or Steve Burnside (also infected and was considered dead so highly unlikely) Billy (also highly unlikely, unless Rebecca was also in this game)
3) Nicholai (this would kinda be cool tie to Raccoon City and all, but also not sure if it would make a huge impact, certainly could be a good fit if Jill is also in the game).
4) Daniel Fabron or some random Connections guy tied to Brandon Bailey, it also crossed my mind that maybe the involvement of some company could have created clones of the enemies from RE 7, and the hooded figure is a clone of Lucas Baker or Jack?

I expect none of these bits and pieces are related to any previous characters, but so far they've shown basically nothing. Is this Leon stuff just total guessing for the sake of it? I never heard Alyssa was in this before the reveal, so I don't see any real leaks being confirmed. At any rate fan faves should probably be left alone if it's not actually their story.
This being said all I really wanted to know was whether this was ultra-Ethan-slow-mode or more like the RE4 remake with proper movement and fluid gameplay. Going back to Village and crawling along at the start is always a pain.

I always wondered if Nicholai escaped from the city. Just with a lot of aspects to the series, that is something I felt was unresolved due to the concept of having multiple paths in-game, with the real one not being clear.
I know the real ending however is definitely the one with Barry (as in, what occurs in the original 1999 release). If you get the encyclopedia on RE, so much is explained.
That's why I wasn't keen on the remake. They left out something very important for his redemption arc.
