RE9 RE9 Q&A with Producer Kumazawa

"Masato Kumazawa: With Resident Evil Requiem, however, we wanted to return to a story that continues the overarching narrative rooted in Raccoon City and the secret machinations of the Umbrella Corporation."

I can't wait to find out more about the "secret machinations of the Umbrella Corporation"

Excellent Q&A!
Was Village’s post-launch third-person perspective DLC a test for allowing both first and third-person perspectives? Why was that an important option to give to players?

The third-person mode added to Resident Evil Village was created simply in response to fan requests and was not intended as a prototype. Our analysis of recent gameplay trends in the series revealed that many players tend to engage with either first-person or third-person titles exclusively.
This spoke to me. The one thing I've wanted to see was in motion third-person gameplay and having saw it today this is no on the fly addition like Village's DLC. The footage and now this quote affirms what I thought all along, it was a third-person crafted experience since incubation with the first-person option added later. The animations and such seem perfectly native, weighty, fluid and is something that is tough to do FPS->TPS; it is much easier to handle TPS->FPS, just look at so many mods alone. Seeing the RE9 co-op game also shows TPS early on and while the game itself changed, there is always some sort of carry over.

Mirroring Yama's sentiments, the third person footage they showed off looked excellent! Looks like I'll playing through the game twice upon release with both perspectives (whichever recommended perspective will be my first run).

Leon being name dropped like he was is interesting.... And feels like a red herring. The game has already been said to have "cinematic action" and with this being a eulogy to Raccoon City and Umbrella, there's no way at least one legacy character isn't going to show up.

Has it ever dawned on them that maybe his "name was dropped" because the interviewer is the one that asked him if Leon is in the game the first place?

No doubt these journalists spend time online circulating these rumors it's only natural they're gonna bring these up when interviewing the director.

Once people discover Leon is not in the game what is next? Oh, he's gonna be in the DLC! They cut his content and are making people pay for it later.

Gotta love e-cults!

Interviewer? Leon's name was also mentioned in the creator's message video which was made by Capcom themselves, there was no journalist asking those questions. Maybe lets wait until the game is released before 100% believing a legacy character isn't going to show up when the game takes place in the ruins of Raccoon City of all places and the main character works for the FBI?

Also e-cult is a crazy take, the online multiplayer/open world version of the game was a big rumor and that turned out to be true (even if it was an earlier scrapped version).

I think it is time for some kind of bet even just a fun one!
