GIVEAWAY:
We are extremely excited and proud to be able to give back to our great community both past, present and future! Thanks to some wonderful help and our own eagerness to give back, we're going to be giving away (3) standard copies of Resident Evil Requiem and (1) collectors edition. We will be shipping these worldwide, not just domestically. The drawing will go from today until 11/30. We will consider live streaming the drawing event!

Rules are very simple: Must be registered here. Post in this thread, simply introduce yourself and let us know why you love Biohazard! We'd ask for you to stick around, contribute and help shape the future of the community into what you want it to be, but it's not mandatory (we understand some prefer to read more than type). That's it! P.S. you can talk amongst yourselves in this thread all you'd like, only each users *first* post in the thread will be counted as their "entry."

ANNIVERSARY:

We'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who has ever contributed as far back as 2005 and as new as 2025. To see some more of where we truly started, please check out our older 5th Anniversary article as it details some fun evolution and the inception of the site. In short, Biohaze originally started as a thread during the early 2000's on the GameSpot forums in which I moderated at. Eventually we outgrew the thread and I decided to create a website to house our community. One driving point about Biohaze was that it never was a replacement or direct competitor to other fan sites, but instead a complimentary addition. We worked closely with other communities to form a hub and bring positive and passionate fans together from all areas. Many staffers and early members from our site went on to do very special things in the Biohazard community, some such as: @cvxfreak and his best selling book, Katastrophe and her tenure at Capcom, @TheBatMan and his Podcast, Newsbot and his never ending lore work and so many more.

If Biohaze was known for one thing during this span, it'd be community. We brought Outbreak players together with a database, play dates and competitions. We won the Kijuju competition by Capcom, where many of our users were able to meet IRL and compete against other communities (all before social media). We attended and broke news from TGS live during an era where content creation was in its infancy. Interviewed developers, voice actors and so many awesome people, Being a fan site for 20 years, we've seen ups and downs that tie in with the series itself, the evolution of technology, social media and many more factors.

Originally Biohaze housed an encyclopedia worth of information by members and staffers. It was a tough task as the site was also designed to stand out visually during the time, so incorporating more was a very custom process. As time passed however and tech became much more streamlined with mobile, as did social media, much of what we worked on was simply better left in the past. During this time I considered closing the site, though many urged me to keep history alive as it meant something to them, as it did to myself as well. Admittedly some of the transition was bumpy, going from a visually intensive sliced site to something more responsive and modern took a couple of tries. Our forums housed 15 years worth of discussion and while it did back up along with the site, it wasn't able to be transferred as we had hoped. (A future mirror may be possible, however WayBack Machine now does a very good job at being able to browse the past site here and forums here.) After careful consideration we decided to pick a few of the points Biohaze could stand out in 2025 with, trim some fat and double down on the main course.

Today going forward we want to keep the focus on what made the site thrive in the first place: community and exclusive long form. While social media houses infinite amounts of community, there is still a place in our heart for being able to write an in depth post at your own leisure, receive in depth responses and know that discussion will be archived safely forever. That is our commitment to you going forward. In addition to this, to provide you with 100% credible news, opinion pieces and exclusive hands on content (such as these closed door RE9 impressions). We're happy to start a new phase on our 20th year and not be closing the book. Thank you to everyone who has contributed over the years and most of all the great relationships made due to it. We're 100% ran and kept up internally, we don't take any donations this day and age. All we ask is to contribute with your interactions as we love to see it! 💕

NEW THEME:
We're excited to introduce over 100 forum and site upgrades, both behind the scenes and at the forefront. The most fun one for us to show you is the new 20th anniversary light theme, reminiscent of the old Biohaze. Change anytime between the 2025 Dark and 20th Anniversary Light on mobile or desktop by clicking the theme on the bottom of the screen.

Tysm! This is amazing and why I love the fan site >>> everything. feels like a mom and pop shop versus big biz. Happy to have met you and so many cool people I still play outbreak with all the time. I started with RE2 and became obsessed with the series because of outbreak and the online aspect

The "Light" version almost burned my eyeballs out so I had to fix it. xD

Congrats on the update and the journey. Isn't this the part where people slam their beer mugs on the table and chant things like "20 more years!"

Been a fan since RE1. Used to visit message boards like these all the time plus gamefaqs boards. I'm not as active on the internet anymore but still excited for new RE games.
Welcome! Hope you join in more, always to great to meet another fan since '96!

Fan since the Gamecube Remake! I wanted more of it after finishing and got Zero but then the series changed forever! I went back and beat the original trilogy after and stuck with it ever since. I love fansites like this thank you for all u do. I like my chances right now but im thinking this thread is going to explode by the deadline haha

considering the amount that of message boards that were raised and phased out in the 2000s, congratulations on keeping this one alive for so long.

Seems kind of niche, but I like it over the other point-based sites, and I could definitely see myself posting here if I was born earlier back then. Though I think I’m late to the conversation now 😅.

My mother had an obsession with zombie film so that’s how I got into the series, but I had an intense fear of them back then so I never played any of the games until 5&6 and only in passing.

I can’t really explain why I like Resident Evil yet as I’ve just started really paying attention to it, but I like how each title is different than the last. They don’t seem to like playing the same tune for too long.

It's called adapting to market trends to keep the franchise "in the green".

It's subjective as Hell and everyone has their opinions but from my perspective the series was the best from 1996-2005 then took a huge tumble 2005-2015 (market trends at that time favored consoleized shallow shoots like Call of Duty and Gears of War, and Capcom adapted accordingly) and has slowly been on an upward trajectory from 2015-present once Revelations 2 came out but it's also been a mixed bag during this time period (For example I loved RE2R but did not like RE4R that much likewise I didn't care for 7 or 8 that much but I did at least have fun playing 8 as a fancy-looking first person shooter).

Cheers for RE9! May it be a great leap forward for the series and for horror! I got faith they can do it, everything checks out so far and tomorrow we will see it in action. :)

Loving the new look! I'm grateful this place is still around and kicking with so many forums dying off over the years. I have so many fond memories being involved in the RE community over the years!

I was about 4 or 5 when my older brother bought and took home RE Director's Cut on the PS1 and I remember being absolutely terrified watching him play it. The live action opening and the first zombie head turning scene gave me countless nightmares as a child.... But strangely despite all that, I still was always curious to see more. Eventually, RE2 came out and my brother bought and played through that. I watched it almost in it's entirety and found it so incredibly fascinating (but still terrifying). I remember having a demo disc with RE2 on it and the demo disc for RE3 that came with Dino Crisis and I eventually worked up the courage to play both on my own... and that was it. I was officially a fan. My brother ended up giving me his copies of RE1 Director's Cut and RE2 and then I continued on from there with playing each subsequent entry.

I guess what I love about RE is the settings and creature designs. I always loved how it wasn't just zombies in the original games but infected animals and straight up creatures as well. There always was a science behind them too, where the games would have files explaining how/why they were created and I always found it so fascinating. You didn't really see creatures other than zombies in zombie movies (and still don't very often) at the time either. I also really enjoy the isolated outbreak locations and I find it far more interesting than just a standard end of the world scenario that you see so often. There's also always the mystery aspect of trying to figure out what the hell is going on which is always fun the first time through. Really looking forward to all this and more in RE9!

Unfortunately, it seems like I lost my old account but happy to see the revival of the site!

Been a fan of RE since playing RE3 as a kid and got hooked. Now I can't stay away from the franchise. The puzzles is what always got me. Having to ride my bike to Gamestop to memorize guides just so I can pass the clock tower. After playing through 4 it finally was time to play RE1 and 2 and I can never stay away.

Looking forward to new coverage for RE9 and hopefully this is a sign for Capcom to do an Outbreak REmake with introducing characters that most people like myself never even knew about since I've still yet to play Outbreak.

Nearly twenty years ago, my dad brought home bio4 on the Nintendo Wii. I watched him play and played a bit myself. Not long after, I fully dove into the universe with him in The Umbrella Chronicles. Even earlier on, the box covers for the games, Outbreak in particular, as well as posters and ads for the first three Resident Evil films had already piqued my curiosity. I was always a fan of Gothic Horror, Frankenstein, Dracula, Sleepy Hollow, so Zombies and the like were a natural fit.

I went from reading gamefaqs and other forums to making small improvement edits on Wikipedia then discovering Wookieepedia, the Ratchet & Clank wiki, Resident Evil Wiki, and so on where I would continue practicing my writing skills by adding story information and cleaning up articles. Then I discovered Project Umbrella, Crimson Head Elder, and eventually this lovely space. I am close to releasing my first novel and remain ever watchful of what the future of Umbrella's legacy may hold.

Hi everyone,
I first played RE1 on my ps1 when I was 12, and got my first jump scare in gaming from those damn dogs jumping from the window and I think turned off the console like a coward :)) but the atmosphere and gameplay sucked me back in and I was scared through out the whole game but I still managed to finish it. since then I'm in love with the franchise and played almost all of them and really hyped for RE9 (hopefully an optimized game so my pc could handle it)

Ngl, I'm here for the giveaway but I'm also a huge RE dork like many others and I will be making an effort to check the site constantly (while avoiding RE9 spoilers).

Here's to a bigger yet friendly as ever RE community!!

As a short introduction, I'm an old guy (39y), played RE3 Nemesis at a rental and REmake was my first RE played to completion on a GCN, first console I ever bought with my own money. Been here for the ride ever since.

there is nothing in gaming that lives more rent free in my head than the first cerberus encounter. I didn't even realize it was a remix encounter in remake until i went back and played the original. A true master at his craft!!

Agreed! I got jump scared in remake too, I never expected them to change the location of jump scare from original lol. amazing games

I like to think of this place as a hub for everything you can find for the series. If it isnt here there's probably a link to it. Good to see some new faces along with the old heads. It's gonna be real nice around here again.

I can't believe it's already been 20 years since this site opened its homepage. I think it's generous that you're giving away a copy of Requiem for free for celebrating this site's anniversary. However, there is no way I can accept it if you were to choose me to give a copy to, because I don't have a PS5 and I have no intension of getting one. If I were to get the free give away, I would end up selling it on eBay for money, which I do need more than a game I don't have the system for.

I just don't play video games like I used to. I have a PS4, loaded with games, but I haven't played it for a long time, including games installed on it from the 1990s like Street Fighter series and Ninja Turtles The Cowabunga Collection. I'll be 43 in 2 months; I think I've reached that age where games just aren't as appealing to me anymore. Could be that games these days have too much realistic movements that give me motion sickness. I've even said it before that if Resident Evil would only do CGI movies based on Resident Evil canon, and less video games, I would be happy enough. I get my Resident Evil pleasures and game story followings by watching the gameplay walkthroughs on YouTube. If I were to play a more modern game outside Resident Evil, it would be Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Remaster for the PS4; Pinball Arcade

My adventures with Resident Evil started one night when I was visiting my moms (I was 14 years old then) and my older brother and his friend brought his PlayStation system along with Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot and since I was only used to Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo at the time, I was blown away by the graphical enhancements on the PlayStation. I loved Resident Evil to the point of wanting it for Christmas 1997 and I told my dad (who I was living with) I wanted a PlayStation and Resident Evil and Tomb Raider if I were to do extra chores around the house to earn it, and earned it I did. So my actual adventures of Resident Evil and Tomb Raider II actually got going officially Christmas 1997 along with the Resident Evil 2 Demo that came with it, then a month later, Resident Evil 2, which I enjoyed the Demo came out and I have been following the series ever since. Some things scared the living crap out of me, like jump scares (like Cerberus crashing the windows, and monsters jumping on and off the TV, and giant spiders (I HATE SPIDERS with a passion) and opening doors not knowing what to expect on the other side. In 2005, I started writing a book of my own version of Resident Evil called Bio Quest, but I never finished it; writers block, I guess.

Biohaze has been good to me so far, unlike the Ninja Turtle forum site called The Technodrome Forums where they made a mockery of my sexuality, my disability, my political affiliation and my Ninja Turtle website (which is a lot better, bigger and more detail oriented than theirs and didn't take my as long to construct). Life has been better so far during the past 3 weeks since I was removed from that site. Biohaze has been a welcoming site and I like you guys; you guys are quite cool.

Huh cool thanks for the note Yama. 20 years... somehow I'm still alive. Honestly not sure how all of this online stuff really started. I was not a regular here (somewhere 2003-2004 would have been another long since dead fan forum) but prior my username here went with one of the brighter versions shown above. Same avatar though. In those days, the wild west of the internet, there were a dozen places like Capcom Asylum and New Blood etc etc. where people went to abuse each other, or get into flame wars, which was the style at the time.

Anyway, Resident Evil wasn't my favourite. Truth be told RE2 for the N64 was a random blind buy I found in a used games store. I didn't understand the "scenario B" thing since I hadn't come across anything like it. And I didn't get that it was a follow up to another game since I had no PS1 at home back then. Funny thing is I eventually got absorbed by it, played it through many times later on PC too... (guess where the avatar came from). Then one day I found RE3 on some weird shopping site called "Amazon" (surely that was never going to last) and eventually played CV (before the X) on the Dreamcast, got into the Gamecube remake, Zero, and RE4 of course. I even remember going to see the first movie and thinking it was kind of OK... how times have changed.

Oddly each of these were passing things for me, some hold up and some don't. I didn't like RE4 that much back then with it's fake widescreen (remember that?) and it's weird stop and aim movement controls. Obviously over time a lot of these became my most played games ever, but it's funny that I never really was hooked right away, until more time had passed. In recent years the franchise had ups and downs but it's kind of in good shape... for now. It's kind of a miracle that Capcom got away from the PS3 era "give all development to Western teams and make everything appeal to everyone" phase. Now that was a true nightmare. Time will tell if RE9 is something I will be a fan of, but here we are.
