RE9 Alyssa Ashcroft Model 'Kate Delic' and Comparison

Alyssa (RE9) vs. Kate Delic

Personally, I don't think I'm a fan of this casting decision... and I'm normally pleased with the models that Capcom chooses for their RE Engine characters.

Nothing against Kate but, (to me) it's either Capcom didn't transfer over her real-life looks well enough to Alyssa, or Kate just isn't how I pictured Alyssa would look for a modern RE game, also comparing her to what we had in Outbreak.

Older age of Alyssa excluded - there's something strange about this in-game model of Alyssa to me.

From what we've seen so far, Alyssa gives off generic older blonde lady too much for my liking. Her current hairstyle definitely isn't doing it for me - probably because of what we're already used to from Outbreak.

Maybe I'll see things differently once the game is released.

Yeah you said this in the other thread, I still don't get the big deal. The real model looks even younger, pretty inappropriate for the mother of a teenager. "Generic" isn't a term you can apply to a real human face, but ironically it is how the original low res Outbreak cast looked - anime archetypes from the PS2 era. If you just want to say you find her game face vs reality too ugly then just say it, instead of dancing around it.

I definitely don’t think of this as “anime” but instead cg realism for the era. She’s a hair off, but the actress can play the part of an older Alyssa. May not have been my first casting, but not against it either. I think it’s more the transition from the actress and her face scan to the game. It loses more likeness there tbh. The RE Engine has had a lot of this, let’s not forget the Chris debacle in RE7 originally lol.

Sure but you look at half of them, her included, and it's almost the same nose and eyes (and even hair) as RE4 Leon. Although Capcom certainly isn't above making weird fugly iterations as you say, Chris RE7, Jill REV, Claire REV2.

I find Kate to be quite consistent with her original design. If you find it different well people change a lot in 20 or so years so one shouldn't expect an exact match. As pointed out by Yama Outbreak's an early 2000s game, CG was very different in those days.

One thing I noticed though is that her VA sounds a bit British? Makes sense given the Ashcroft surname I guess, that wasn't a thing in the original.

Not "dancing" around anything. I say what I mean. Alyssa looks generic compared to her model - and no, some human faces do actually stick out from the crowd more than others, hence why some people become models. lol

There is nothing in Alyssa's new in-game model that reminds me of the classic character, other than the color of her clothing.

Like Yama and I mentioned, it's either the model's likeness did not translate well to game or the casting is just not that great.

Took the liberty of posing Alyssa's high quality model from Outbreak for the sake of comparison, CAPCOM's casting team aren't sleeping at work.
