NORTH AMERICA

The North American version was the second to be released anywhere in the world, and so far is still exclusive to the PlayStation 2. The North American matchmaking service, Sega SNAP, was used until 2007 to bring the game online for free.

JAPAN
The Japanese version was the first to be released anywhere in the world, and so far is still exclusive to the PlayStation 2. The Japanese matchmaking service, KDDI, is used to bring the game online for a small fee.

INTERESTING FACTS

(PlayStation 2)

1) For Japan, this is the 4th Biohazard game released for the PlayStation 2. For North America, this is the 3rd Resident Evil game released for the PlayStation 2 due to the lack of North American release for Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2: CODE: Veronica.
 
2) For the second time in series history, videos from the game could be viewed from the main menu.
 
3) The North American version used the logo from the Resident Evil movies.
 
4) This marked the third time in series history when the North American and Japanese versions of a game were released in different years, with the Japanese version releasing in 2003 and the North American version releasing in 2004.

5) A bundle containing Biohazard Outbreak and the PlayStation 2 Network Adapter was released in Japan on the same day as the standalone release.
