Also notice all the West Africa Branch are wearing North America patches as well as them being backwards.

I'm just going to side-step around this here

Alright then. Has anyone managed to get an S+ rank on either Veteran or Professional? apparently it's easier to get on Pro than it is on Veteran thanks to the bonus points gained from playing on the highest difficulty.

Eh, the character design was pretty weak in my opinion. The only way they could differentiate the characters was:

A. Make one male character a bit bigger.

B. For the females, change their hair color.

Not at all. Each outfit is unique. Each character has their own style and substance to them to pass off as an individual which goes along with their skill of choice. If you had any difficulty telling any of them apart then you need to get your eyes checked. The lazy approach would be to have them all look like HUNK and have Spec Ops dressed in the same uniforms with their faces covered like a traditional co-op/multiplayer shooter. But they went the extra mile to make individuals. The only time you could relate characters is that each spec ops has some key comparison to u.s.s. which is for the sake of balance against opposing teams.

Did you even read the rest of my post or did you just jump on that tiny bit like a fuming ratfink?

Well now that I've beaten the game, I do have newer impressions, at least ones based on the single player experience. I'll try to make a short post, mainly things I liked and didn't like.

Didn't Like:

No squad mechanic - AI partners have a pension for suicide and without proper direction, it often does feel like I'm playing alone and not part of a team. A very general system to create team direction of AI partners would help a lot like: focus attack on single target, move up, move back to me, etc. Also, the same might be said about multiplayer. In a general sense, I wish there was a spotting system or something that can help co-op play other than speaking through a mic. And I feel the game needs a role/dodge maneuver. Though I've played it before release, I didn't notice this because I just didn't need one. But now I can say it feels a little unnatural not to be able to roll in a tps like this. Thinking about it further, I'd take roll maneuver over ORC's dive.

The story - Two key things were missing in this story, a beginning and an end! What we have here is a sandwhich without bread. It doesn't need a start and end by conventional means (though that would help) but at least a better sense of resolve for our characters.

Like:

Characters - I really did like the new character designs! I mentioned this before but Japanese games sometimes design characters with high sex appeal, youthfulness, and very attractive appearance. I understand why that is but I like a little departure from that. The wolfpack looks very grim and dark - I like it.

The concept - Also I mentioned this before but a zombie-tps-squad-game has a lot of potential. But as much as I like ORC, it didn't fully realize that possibility. What it has done is established a base for a future game with a higher budget and more time to be better.

And finally versus mode is fun. And I hate to relegate ORC to this single comment but - it's fun to shoot stuff <--- This is probably the best thing about the game. I know that's not saying much but I still find it fun and enjoyable.

Has anyone else noticed this?

In the lab where you extract the Nemesis parasite from the T-103, there is a white board that says "Attn: RPD - Let's be safe out there." It's signed "Chief Irons."

On it, it lists the units that comprise the RPD, including STARS, but here's the kicker. They say STARS stands for "Special Tactics and Rescue Squad."

So I finally got around to playing the game. I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

The campaign is just flat out boring. No other way around it. Forget the AI being bad, or the cover system being incredibly spotty. Its just not fun. My friend even had a glitch in the second chapter where he wasn't even able to fire his gun against the licker ambush. We quit after the third chapter. We tried some multiplayer modes. In the very first game, I had an issue where I couldn't respawn as Shona. I forget what the mode is called, but the only way to remedy it was to quit.

I tried Heroes mode. While the concept is good, the mode is marred by idiotic gameplay design. This game suffers from Call of Duty syndrome. Why is it that other players can run through a hail of bullets and ram you to the ground? The melee system is obviously busted, so I don't need to touch on that. My friends were also complaining about how they had hit an enemy player multiple times yet it didn't yield a kill. Multiplayer is bearable, but if I want a game similar to this, I can always just play Gears of War 3 instead.

The only thing that saves this game for me is being able to play as Jill in Heroes. If it weren't for that, I'd say this game is a complete and utter failure.

@ ikari:
if your on the ps3 version & run into that matchmaking glitch, simply sign out & resign in. its faster than restarting the whole system.

@ archelon:
LMFAOO! Only further implys that ORC is based off the film's universe, dear god.

So I guess this was the game that would "tie" with the movies mentioned back in 2010 then. It surely fits their retard-ness.

Overall the campaign was crap, had a few good moments though.

Versus multiplayer is great, especially as an old SOCOM fan. Can really feel the influence on this. Has a few issues but I can see playing this a lot, at least until RE6 rolls along and may offer something better, though I suspect it may only offer co-op modes.
