It looks like they might try to retcon all the previous movies by doing a 'it was all a manipulated dream by umbrella' nonsense.

I also lol'd at Leon. I can't wait for sept. I need a good laugh.

I think for the first time I am actually disappointed...I mean, the 2nd movie was my favorite and still is, but after that, it just looks...terrible...just terrible. :(

At least they were honest. Last words of trailer were 'Milla Jove(something) in 3D'!

The intro looks way better than the rest of the movie. Why another stupid licker monster, what is with this franchise and lickers, lickers are boring. Hunters please.

You know the Sonic Cycle? Someone needs to make a Resident Evil Movie Cycle.

Same shit, every two or three years. A new trailer gets released - so we get the same old reycled, yet still completely unsufferable comments such as "I'M ONLY WATCHING IN CASE SHE DIES!!", or "OH WELL IT'LL BE GOOD TO LAUGH AT!!" or the classic, which people still state in total shock "THEY'RE DOING THIS TO THAT CHARACTER?!".

How many Resident Evil movies has there been now? Yet in a community of apparently quite intelligent members we still haven't found someone who can come up with anything new?

The films are shit, well done. But it's not as if you're being held at gunpoint now, is it? Yet after years of pissing and moaning about the plot, the director and writers take massive steps to making amends and people still scoff? Get a grip.

Of course people are going to laugh at it or hate on it. What else are they going to do? Praise it? If anderson bothered to write something half decent I'd be the first one to step up and say hey he did a decent job for once. Hell, I used to defend the original film when it first came out against people who claimed it was nothing like the games. But, he's had 3 sequels already and each one has been the same nonsense. The trailer for 5 shows off the exact same kind of lazy writing he's done for the past films. Again, there's nothing to do 'but' laugh at it at this point.

And what amends are being made? Retcon'ing the entire series? It's just lazy writing which is what Anderson has done for all 3 of the past films. Just like killing off all the alice clones out of the series at the opening of Afterlife because he realized he wrote himself into a corner with them. And that's all he's doing again is retcon'ing the story so the world isn't already destroyed and everyone dead because there really wasn't anywhere left to go.

That's all he does is simply write shit he thinks sounds badass, films it, then when he goes to write the next film he realizes 'oh shit, that 'badass' thing i did last film makes it hard for me to write a sequel so let me just retcon it or write it out of the plot." It's lazy writing plain and simple.

The only 'amends' that can be done to the series is to reboot it from scratch with a new writer and cast. And that's not even hating with that suggestion. The plot is just so over convulted and screwed up at this point that retcon'ing it isn't going to fix it. A reboot is necessary if they actually care about having a coherent plot at this point.

If Retribution somehow ends up being some great movie, again, I'll be the first to say so. But, again, from the trailer it's just the same lazy writing I've seen in the past 3 films where the focus is solely on given Milla action scenes to star in with the plot and connection to RE being an afterthought.

I'm not reading all that. I'm happy to just assume it's some recycled garble based on posts in the "OMG MILA'S A SLUT!11!!" thread and another RE movie thread from the time the last film was produced.
