People cried heresy over RE4. But now people don't think of it like that so much, because of how much the series has evolved over time.

I'm pretty optimistic believe it or not about some things, but I am still crying heresy. RE4 has blasphemed the RE name even if it was fun and looked awesome and had Mercenary mode.

I go back and I play Rebirth or Re2 and I think of how awesome these games are and I think to what has happened from RE4. Granted stupid stuff happens in stories, especially from video games but I didn't want it to happen to this game series.

I still think this is legitimate criticism even though I make these threads in jest. RE4 is still relevant, it is part of the main storyline. It may have gotten people into the series but the older games have so much more value to me. Sure I beat 4 like 5 billion times like other people and it was cool, but it just doesn't deliver to me. The replay value is good, but the atmosphere and the very nature of the game isn't like my beloved series.

Nothing to tie it in good enough. I will say right now 100% I would have preferred RE4 not only to have a decent story, but to play like the classic games play. Sure, I understand people wanted the upgrades to gameplay, but I think they could be implimented differently so as to not make the game pure action. I don't know if 5 will ever erase the poopstain that is this game. Will that even be good enough?

I wouldn't be so kind to call the plot "light" it is pure idiocy. Believe me when I say my beef is with the core story, not just some Ganado looking into the camera and this whole thing. That was just hilarious.

Please, they tried to make the series better in response to the fans, and they did. The story isnt that bad, its decent. And it was NOT 100% action.

The village had decent atmosphere, but it was action focused. That's how the game played. Where was the scary? Few things can be argued but it isn't like the old games. No really good puzzles, and the plot is hideous.

The story has just about nothing to do with the old series. Leon. Okay then he conveniently gets into this situation and then there are all kinds of other stupid problems with the plot. It's like they wanted to bind it to the old storyline by making stupid coincidences. Umbrella suddenly being gone it's like they wanted to alienate a lot of RE fans although I doubt that's actually the case.

Maybe the gameplay did need to evolve. I loved the old gameplay, but how much resemblance does it really have to the old series? I think it could have been done better, I think stupid characters and parts of the plot didn't need to be there if they thought a little more.

Five looks more acceptable but better not end up being retarded.

Okay, but how many topics are you gonna make complaining about RE4?

No, it didnt have anything to do with the past games but what was supposed to happen, in your honest opinion?

The point is RE4 didnt have anything from the past because there moving into the future: Ada, has a Las Plagas sample, and Wesker now wants Ada dead.

(( RE4 story is very different from the classic RE titles. There's a logical sequence of events but for me it's somehow crazy. I've never tried to understand the whole storyline as I did in Outbreak. But the "problem" of the game is Ada Wong. Jesus... at first time she's working for Wesker and at the end of the game, she does things by her own and did not give him the sample. I really admire her but she mess the story a bit, I think. ))
