One of my favorite movie franchises of all time. I have always put the Alien movies (at least the first two) on my list of favorite movies of all time, they mixed sci fi and horror and did it so well that I have never seen another movie before or since do it so good. I would like to discuss these movies with all of you. Which ones you like, don't like, or maybe you've never seen them at all, all are welcome. I'll give my opinion on each of them.

Alien-One of my favorite movies of all time this movie is so near and dear to my heart it did so much for me, it was the first movie that terrified me, it got me into horror movies as well as sci fi movies. There is just so much that I love about this movie and I could go on for hours.
- A definite must watch

Aliens-At first I really didn't think Aliens could be as good as Alien, boy was I wrong. This movie is just as good as the first one and some might argue its better then the first one. While I love Aliens it seemed to be more of a action movie then a horror movie but there were still some great scary moments in it but I feel Alien had a creepier mood and atmosphere then this one thats not saying Aliens isn't great I just prefer Alien more.
- Also, a definite must watch

Alien 3- How on earth do you top Alien and then Aliens... well... you don't. Alien 3 isn't a terrible movie but it is not even in the same league as the first two. Not the worst just the most disappointing.
- Watch only if you enjoed the first two a lot

Alien Resurrection- For me the worst one out of all of them. Man, there was nothing in this movie that I liked. Hell, Alien 3 had some cool moments but this had nothing at all. I can only assume that this was made just to make money off the name and nothing more. I would like to believe that this movie doesn't exist but I can't.
- Watch at your own risk

Aliens and Alien 3 are my probably my favorite of this series. Aliens had a great atmosphere and vibe, and Alien 3 was great - seeing the Xenomorph chasing those workers around the tunnels, and also from the perspective of the Xenomorph.

Bishop turned out to be evil, if memory serves... In Alien he was one of the good guys.

Bishop was never evil. His human creator was.

Alien 3 is an under appreciated masterpiece, especially the extended special edition.

I would. It was rightfully despised upon its release in 1992 but now it has emerged as a cult classic. There is some beautiful imagery in Alien 3 which far surpasses anything in Aliens, and Aliens is my all time favourite film. David Fincher's direction is majestic, full of such clever things like the Hicks and Newt funeral leading to the reincarnation of the alien. It's daring stuff. Its different.

Resurrection should just never have been made, period. Hopefully with Prometheus Ridley Scott can get the franchise moving in the right way again. My only worry is that should he get it wrong, it will tarnish the legacy of the original masterpiece.

See one of the things that made Alien 3 in my eyes a good not great film was it seemed that it was borrowing too much from Alien which coming from me you'd think I would just love it but I didn't get the same feeling I did in Alien 3 as a I did with Alien and one thing I can never forgive the movie was killing off Hicks, that sort of turn me off at the start of the movie but it did redeem itself in a way throughout the rest of the movie. Totally agree with you on Resurrection and I'll say this about Ridley Scott, for me he is the only man for the job I don't think any other director can do it besides him. Its like my view on any new Evil Dead iterations the only man to direct them is Sam Raimi.

I'm not sure if the Alien prequel is still going ahead. Apparently, they're now doing a separate film that may still tie-in with Alien. I also heard that they'd wanted to do a spin off that focused on Ripley only. Although considering she died, I'm not sure how that would work out for them...

They are. They are filming it now. Its called Prometheus and it is due out 12 June 2012. It started as an Alien Prequel then Ridley Scott attempted a very clever misdirection campaign by claiming the script was rewritten and it became a completely original film with only vague references to the Alien series.

But this has since been debunked as set reports and insiders have already confirmed a replica of the Space Jockey set has been built and several stunt aliens have been spotted. And these so-called sources are genuine because they leaked news of Charlize Theron and Guy Pearce being in the cast long before they were officially announced.

Alien 3 was a decent film if you go by the Special Edition, I like the religious imagery, symbolism and Ripley's sacrifice. It was a nice way to end the trilogy. Beautiful, haunting soundtrack too. Just listen to the opening theme.
