An update regarding the ongoing PSN outage:

Quote:
We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

The whole desire to upgrade security seems to heavily indicate hackers were indeed involved in PSN's downtime.

There's rumours circulating that it was a serious attack on the servers, to the point where administrator accounts were breached along with account information. So Sony have pretty much shut down the entire network, which is a wise decision since it also keeps out anyone who might have tried to gain access. Though I doubt the intent was to steal credit card information, mainly just to bring down the network which is exactly what they've accomplished.

In addition, there's been reports from an anonymous source that the Japanese servers will be restored tomorrow with Europe and the U.S likely to follow the next day. Whether or not there's any validity to this I do not know.

Quite sure that Sony saying as much is the biggest indication.

^ On the flipside of that as well, the fact they communicate very little shows they don't want to discuss the specific details of who and what happened to leave their door wide open so that a) they don't look more stupid, and b) so that it limits the chance of others trying alternatives once the network is up again.

Ok, I'm really starting to get supremely pissed about this new controller I bought for the racing games on my ps3. The HKS racing controller looks great for what it's intended for but I plugged it up to try it out on GT 5 and the sumbitch don't work correctly. The x and square which are supposed to be the gas and brake don't register worth a crap in game. I've tried removing the right stick as the accelerate and brake as well and it still doesn't work.

I tried googling problems with the controller or hks controller doesn't work or even the buttons don't work and I get nothing. I don't mind taking the damn thing back but I wanted to give this thing a fair shake and I can't even do that. GRRRRRR

Anyone got any tips or have this controller as well that had this problem?

EDIT: The controller works just fine for navigating menus and making selections in game but applying them to a race is the issue.

I've never seen the controller until now. Officially licensed HKS, that's pretty hot. Even if it has issues I want one now.

Thank goodness for single player games. But if they're improving the security, it's going to take a lot more then "a full day or two" before it gets back up again.

The '1 or 2 full days' comment was made when the service was down for the first hours/days, since then it's been a week.

I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully the system is properly protected like it should have been in the first place and it's up and running soon.
