Ok so i've been playing RE4 lately because i want to beat pro mode. The problem is i can't past the part about 30-40 mins into the game where you have to outrun the boulder by tapping A repeatedly.

I swear i must have tried 40 or 50 times and every single time i get crushed. I've only even made it to the point where you need to press 2 buttons to dodge 3 or 4 times. I don't get it, I'm pressing the A button as fast as I possibly can and i still can't outrun the boulder.

I know it can't be because I'm not tapping A fast enough because I'm a seasoned veteran when it comes to button mashing thanks to mario party....anyone have any tips to beating this part?

Am i the only one who thinks is damn crazy how hard this is? I usually don't get frustrated that easily when playing a game, but man, this is REALLY getting on my nerves.

Not really quite sure why it is doing this if you claim to be a button smashing veteren. Perhaps your finger slips onto another button at a crucial moment.... 40 times over? The combination buttons at the end are usually square + x or another pair if I remember, but that may not be the problem.

I'm playing the gamecube version. It's kind of hard to miss the gigantic A button.

It seems like whenever i press the button really fast, i don't get very far, but if i don't mash it as fast as i can i get further. I don't get why. Maybe i need to do it at a certain pace...i don't know.

I'm playing the gamecube version. I have a feeling this part is easier to do on the ps2 version. I know that they made the game a little easier for the ps2 version and this seems like one of the parts that they would make a little easier. It's like ridiculous hard. I did this part no problem on normal mode but it's just frustratingly hard on pro.

Well, I remember that the button prompts weren't that difficult in proffesional compared to normal, but I've always played RE4 on the PS2.

The boulder part does seem to be more difficult on pro. I still freak out every time it comes rolling after me.
I don't know what could be causing this. Maybe you're pressing the buttons too fast? That doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe your controller is messed up? A couple controllers of mine the A button stopped working. If you have any other controllers have you tried those? Now that I remember once when I was playing I died like three times in a row because of this
I hope it starts to work soon.

I know from experience that the GC controllers have a way of fizzling out when you mash the A button so much as with a game like re4. It seems that being a bigger beefier button doesn't help the fact that it gives out so easily. I remember going through quite a few of them the last time I had a 'Cube before I bought the wii. Still, even after that the buttons are just apt to breaking down because the series makes use of the A button so prevalent. I've never encountered the problem your talking about but, I can see where it would be frustrating.

Strange, I got passed this part my first time on pro with no difficulty, in fact, the only part that gave me any trouble on pro was the bit where you are stuck in that house with Luis, and have to fight off a horde of ganados.... I swear I died there atleast 20 times.

I had worse trouble when I got around to U3, and I was running low on ammo. Afterwards, my ammo got so low, and I had no real weapons to fight Krauser with to kill him, so I eventually decided to sell half my crap and buy a Rocket Launcher. It was smoothish sailing afterwards, although the Saddler fight was a bit irratating.

A bit off topic, but after I beat Pro, I tried getting as far as I could using just the PRL 412 (scifi gun, whatever its called). I got fairly close to the Ganado fight without saving, but I turned it off because I was getting bored.

^^isn't that the gun that was PS2 exclusive? I want the sci fi gun :(

I finally tried this again the other day and beat it. It took me like 40 minutes lol. Weird thing is when i got to the second time you have to outrun a huge boulder, it was wayyyy easier for some reason. I beat it on my first try. I don't get why that first one was so hard.

Yeah that part is kind of a pain on pro. I died a couple times there. It isn't too bad if you use your shotgun though, i probably wasted a bit too much SG ammo on that part.

Right now I'm at the part just past the 2 statues that breath fire. I only gave it a couple tries but it seems like it's going to be the hardest part for me yet.
I still need to go back to the merchant and get the semi-auto rifle....should have already bought it lol

That is my most hated part of the game for some reason. I just hate all the zealots that surround you. Good luck
