After a fraud case with my credit card (unrelated), I always clear the number immediately after I buy something so I never had any issues. But there is a stupid safety measure that doesn't make much sense with the address input. Any hyphens would make the entry incorrect, but your card would be temporarily secure a $1 worth of credit from your card, which would disappear within two days off your card. The error message wasn't clear at all the first time I tried it (card invalid even though it has nothing to do with it), so I kept at it for 8 or so times apparently and Master Card called immediately to verify that it wasn't fraud.

Now MS's former policy of not letting you even take off the credit card number just pissed me off to no end. I ended up canceling my card at the time, and just started getting the points card from retail.

At any rate, publishers seemingly don't give a rat's ass anymore unless they're pushed by the platform holders. Looking at Namco, they've got gems on the PS1 and only one title out since 2006.

Capcom released Rival Schools avatars on PSN not long ago, and here we are.. the game isn't out yet.

The updates used to be more consistent PSN wide before they changed the main day they release from a Thursday/Friday (depending on where you are) to whatever the hell it is now (Tuesday?). I'm so not sure because when it used to be the end of the week I'd always check, but these days I forget to check every week. Also if you guys think the US PSN is lacking on PSOne games compared to Japan, try the PAL stores. It's about half again what the US one has as far as titles go. And most of it is rubbish titles.

What was a real kick in the pants about the lack of releases was when Sony decided early on to drop the complete and costly backwards comparability on the PS3 itself. When they did that citing a focus on new games it also seemed to end a large fascination with making consistent weekly or monthly PSOne content available as had been originally planned for the PSN. It seems shortsighted because most of the time, excluding DLC for large releases like Call of Duty, the top PSN downloads tend to be PSOne titles. Plus the clear demand thats brought on all this HD editions of PS2 games shows that people want more access to older games.

I'd love to buy Xenogears but I'll never finish it. I never finished it when I owned a decade ago it because I loved the game so much I could never bear entering the final area to end the game.

Perhaps the free aspect was a short sighted decision back then, because they're losing money on PSN apparently and hoping to make it profitable by the end of the next FY. My guess is as good as anyone's but unless they're going to beef up the service and cease offering free online play, stuff like PS1 games make the most sense.

With GT5's release, it's ironic that we didn't see GT1 or 2 on PSN yet crap like Motortoon or Jet Moto is already there.

On the subject of "oldies", how was The Thing video game? Not sure why I skipped on it back then but having rewatched the movie recently, I thought I'd pick up a copy off eBay.

I haven't played it in years, I remember liking it when it came out. If I recall correctly it also got good marks, but this was all something like 8 or 9 years ago.

The concept behind The Thing was really good. The story is a prequel to the film if I remember correctly, which is ironic as the movie coming out this year is a prequel as well.

The trust system if done now would be different and less scripted I think because in the original you can do blood tests on team members to increase trust in one room and everything will be fine, but then you go through a door and then one of them turns into a monster because it was scripted as such.

The thing I remember about the PS2 version the most though was the horrible amount of memory card space the save file took. I think it was like 2 or 3MB out of an 8MB card.

I think the team that worked on it is the same one who's working on the Prototype series (and did Scarface beforehand). It's still a decent survival horror game and something I would actually like to see a next gen version done of.

I'll check it out then. Reading the Wikipedia entry, it's apparently a sequel but the upcoming movie is a prequel.

Not exactly getting the point of doing a prequel all things considered, but it may end up being good.

Ah, that's right it is a sequel. I remember now that the game starts at the location of the film briefly but I'm certain it deals with the already decimated Norwegian outpost seen in the film, which is apparently where the prequel film is supposed to be dealing with.

There was going to be a tv series sequel a few years back that I remember seeing decent designs leak on the net and a positive review of a script from it, but it never happened.

So awesome.

I was thinking of trying out some RE kind of level but I am working on something else right now.

I've just 100%'d the Sly Trilogy, easily one of the most funniest and engaging platforming game I've played recently, with charming characters and entertaining story. Great fun, can't wait for Sly4!

Anyway, getting LBP2 and the Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition tomorrow , oh my poor wallet!

LittleBigPlanet 2 of course. We should play some time Dvader, maybe get a group together and go through story to get all the co-op only items?

I made a few Resident Evil inspired levels in LBP1, but I wasn't able to make them as good as I would have liked. But it's so much easier in LBP2, I'll definitely get some sort of survival horror level out when I'm less busy.
