Bought and in the middle of playing CoD4 Modern Warfare. Wanted to see how the story began. Very short campaign, but well done though I think. Working through veteran right now. I tried multiplayer and I'm curious why they added all the stuff they did, I think the mp in this installment is better than mw2. But what do I know. I still need to finish Lara Croft too hehe. I'm still looking for someone to play it with in co-op, can't believe no one else here has it.

^ COD4 is pretty much regarded as the series high point. I've played all of them except COD2 (it is surprisingly hard to find a copy) and I would agree. COD4 is leagues above any other game in the series, both in online and single player. I think COD4's online is far more balanced than MW2 and WAW.

I never played the Ps2 version but I did destroy the Xbox version and found it pretty fun, in the Xbox version there was more to get away with (like the part where you're expected to use the infrared to see the code, I just hid in the shadows then popped the guy as soon as he opened the door.) though overall the game was pretty linear, most stealth games at the time were.

reading most of the complaints I can chalk it up to being porting tho since in said situation i head-shot the guy and saw a splatter on the wall.

Overall yea its got its share of flaws, some get fixed in Chaos theory some get fixed in Pandora, its a series worth looking at, but in the original there were a few things the team was experimenting with and couldn't get quite right. I also recommend playing them on Xbox or PC because a general rule of thumb is if its ported to PS2 theres something missing (not always but quite often) I was kinda sad Splinter Cell did so well tho, because i loved PoP sooooo much more and felt it was way more revolutionary then SC. I agree the logic is so off (the beer bottle thing pissed me off as well)

That makes me nervous. I think I will go sell a few of my PS2 games and buy them for Xbox now. There wasn't any blood splatter in the version I played, so it is definitely missing stuff. If I see if cheap I might pick it up.

And at the moment, I am playing Dragon Age: Origins. I love Bioware, this game is right up there with their Mass Effect series for sure, though Dragon Age is a more traditional RPG than ME is. Any Mass Effect fans here should give this a go. The world is so interesting, though harder to get into at first than ME, but only because its world and lore is so very complex and completely different than ours (whereas ME is still in our world, just in the future), so I'd read all the lore on the codex page before getting too far into the game otherwise things will go over your head. But once you know it this game is magical.

I like how the game has lots of very cool scenarios in each major area you visit, ME2 was sorely missing those, to many character quests and not enough scenarios like in ME1. The characters are extremely well done as well, and I am glad that they talk and chatter away to each other while you explore around, and I can talk to them during missions too, and you can have three companions follow you instead of two as well which is great. I don't have all the characters yet, but so far my favorite is Leliana. Her accent is cute and she's a nice character. I liked Morrigan too, but came to realize she's a heartless shrew and I let her know that. She laughed. Alistair is great to, so funny to tease him.

The only slightly negative thing I could mention is that your character, The Grey Warden has no voice actor. I guess there are both pros and cons for both styles of RPG player characters. When the character has no voice, the player can select from a list the exact words he wishes to speak, and is more precise this way in where they want to go in conversations, but it also reduces the character to nothing more than an avatar for the player, and not really a character in himself, since he is devoid of emotion, facial expressions and a voice. And it is a bit weird hearing only one person speak in a conversation. I like this style, but after playing ME, I think I like the dialog wheel style even more. I like that instead of controlling an avatar of myself, I can control an actual character that is fully integrated into the game. I have a dialog wheel, which is less precise, it doesn't let me pick my exact words, but lets me choose what direction my character will go, and I can watch and fully control a characters moves in every way. The conversations and cutscenes feel more natural this way, as it is fully voiced, with appropriate facial expressions. So it isn't really a negative point, just a design decision I would have preferred more like ME.

I love Dragon Age, I am about 40 hours into it so far, it is certainly up there with God of War 3, Dead Space, and Mass Effect as the best games of this generation. The side plots in this game are so detailed and have so many characters and twists and interesting things that they could more than pass for a whole main story in any other game, quality, content and length wise! And there are so many as well, about double the amount that is in Mass Effect, but this game is far longer than Mass Effect which is why. I still cannot pick a favorite between ME and DA. And I take back what I said about there being no voice acting. I think it really suits Dragon Age, it sets it apart from ME, and it reminds me of KOTOR.

The combat system is so fun to play around with, and is very tactical, and there are a lot of cool little things to discover within it. The writing is brilliant as well, David Gaider and is team are incredibly talented individuals, the characters they have created are so interesting, even side characters stand out. And like any Bioware game, it has a great sense of humor too.

I just finished the Brecillian Forest, which has to be one of the coolest gaming locations ever, well almost finished, the last Tevinter General Revenant I will allow to live until I can get better armor and weapons. Revenants are so hard to kill. Now I will head back to the Korcari Wilds to help Morrigan with her mother problems. One thing I need to mention, is how good Bioware are at names. Almost every place, thing and person in all their games sounds so damned awesome. I still remember this minor character at Peak 15, Noveria in ME1 called Alestia Iallis, her name rolled of the tongue in such a perfect manor I've never forgotten it. Bioware's auditorily pleasing names, combined with fantastic writing and superb voice acting really suck you into their worlds so much and make it that much more immersive and unforgettable. Leliana the Orelesian Bard is still my most used character, I really like her personality.

And about the characters and the Good/Bad system. While KOTOR and ME have the Light Side/Dark Side or Paragon/Renegade systems as the consequential mechanics for each decision you make, Dragon Age instead scraps that and has a Love/Hate meter for each member of your party. Each party member has a different opinion and different morals, and when the time comes to make agonizing choices, your party will chip in their opinions on what they think it right and just or necessary, which really gives some insight into each character and how they think. (This was in KOTOR and ME as well but to a much smaller degree). It also lets far more morally grey decisions to be made, no choice in the game is black and white, right or wrong which makes each one really hard to make. So it forces you to really think about the implications. However sometimes you might end up choosing a choice just to get the approval of a certain character, which is a minor flaw of this system, it is still very interesting however.

Anyways, I recommend everyone play this game.
