Sure you can. After having all the main games plus a remake the suddenly drop item boxes off the map. Sure I understand that in reality dropping shit on the ground is more 'realistic' , but it just makes a damn mess. I think re5 had the perfect formula for inventory and items.

Maybe they put billy because he is named on a file in re 2, the day before the mansion incident, so probably they decided to make the game to show what really happened to him.

The point regarding Enrico is inspired; what a perfect way to link Zero with Remake, by utilising a main character, and taking him to the point where he enters the caves even. Billy plays NO more a significant role than any member of the public, posing no direct link to the RE timeline past or present ~ marking him out from someone like, say, Enrico. The integrity of the series would have only been strengthened with Enrico sustituting the impotent Billy. My own thought would be to have seen more of the James Marcus political&power struggle with Spencer, be it through the use of in-game cut-scenes, if not gameplay. Perhaps even allude to the vague surroundings of the demise of Mr Ashford, who, for a founding figure of the evolution of Progenitor, is dubiously missing from a supposed Prequal. There should have been more focus on these 3 founding fathers
