Since the leaderboard thread was getting cluttered and wasn't specific enough, myself and Yama thought it would be a good idea to get the ball rolling by giving Mercenaries it's own thread.

Please try to keep your posts relevant to the topic, and only post replies in cases where you have something worthwhile to contribute, or a genuine question to ask.

Good start.

not sure i fully agree with all of the teirs, but i guess time will tell.

as far as chickens go, ive noticed that the chicken on the upper level in the Mines does not seem to drop a golden egg. just the one on the lower level.

Mercenaries is so damn fun. incredibly addictive.

Feel free to debate them, the tier list stands from the information available about them to date, if something else should come to light that gives them advantages over the rest of the cast I will adjust their postions accordingly.

And I noticed the egg thing as well, kind of strange I agree.

I semi-agree on the tiers, though disagree about Midnight Wesker being better then STARS, when the handgun is discarded he gets enough shotgun ammo to take out everything, but I suppose that's playing him a way he isn't technically made to be played.

If you had even skimmed over my original post you might begin to realise why Wesker (Midnight) is at the top of every leaderboard and why Wesker (S.T.A.R.S) is not. I'm going to use you to set an example of how not to reply to this thread, if I have already specified why a certain character is ranked lower than another, it's for a good reason.

I have a score of 642,476 on Assembly, and am in the top 100-200 on almost every other board on Duos, that's not meant to brag, it's simply meant to clarify beyond a shadow of a doubt that I know what I'm talking about. Unless you have higher I suggest you seriously think about what you're posting before you do so, as I don't want this to get cluttered with useless information like the matchmaking/leaderboard thread. Don't get me wrong I welcome a friendly debate every now and again, but only if both parties are well informed. No offense.

That was seriously uncalled for, I was stating my opinion, which, you know, is what you do on a forum. Can you please tell me how saying "I disagree" means me saying you are wrong, and also verify how you having a high score has anything to do with my opinion?

It seems like your just trying to call me out into an argument, and I don't appreciate it. The first poster said he didn't agree with the tiers, and you didn't attack him, yet you jump all over my post as if I'm a total idiot for even DARING to try to debate something with you.

My post was a well and simple stated opinion meant to start a FRIENDLY discussion, if you know anything about that.

You could of at least gone into some further detail as to why midnight wesker is better then his counterpart, one that has the potential to get almost unlimited Hydra ammo!

I read the entire first post by the way.

im not a Mercs pro (yet), by any means. im just wondering about some of the teirs.

are these your rankings from personal experience, or is there info in the official guide about it?

im also wondering if there would be different teirs in solo as opposed to duo. are there a good % of BSAA jill scores higher than Wesker STARS in solo mode?

maybe someone would be able to come up with a team teir as well. what characters work together well and consistently score higher and on what levels, etc.

im sure a lot of this info is available by crunching the stats on the leaderboards. of course it allways possible that people might find out new sratategies with other characters.

Feel free to point a finger and laugh at me. I never really did well at the mercenary games at all. Never finished one in re3, only was able to unlock Ada in re4, and I can't for the life of me unlock a single character thus far in re5 mercs. I've gotten all the maps unlocked except prison and ship deck, I'm just not quite able to get those high up scores that you need to release the characters. It's really frustrating and I'm about a hair away from destroying my controller at times heh. I try to run and gun while collecting time and combo bonuses, something just isn't quite working.

If you guys have tips you're going to put up here I will definitely do my best to take the knowledge and use it. Also if anyone would like to do some duo's with me I could learn on the fly as well. As far as the first two characters go which one is the better to use? I do ok with Chris, but I think I'm better with Sheva at times.

I greatly appreciate any and all help I can glean from all of you.

MO_Disk didn't specify why he didn't agree, nor did he proceed to make a fool of himself by proving he doesn't know what he's talking about on more than one occasion, in this instance by making a statement like;

Quote:
I semi-agree on the tiers, though disagree about Midnight Wesker being better then STARS, when the handgun is discarded he gets enough shotgun ammo to take out everything, but I suppose that's playing him a way he isn't technically made to be played.

But I'll humor you, even though I already made it quite clear in my original post, S.T.A.R.S. isn't bad by any means, but his Samurai Edge is slower for melee kills and has a lower capacity, and the Hydra eliminates any chance of melee kills of any kind, which is the only way you should be focusing on eliminating the enemy if score is what you're going for. Not to mention the L. Hawk does almost half as much damage as the S&W M500, and he doesn't start with extra ammo for it as opposed to Midnight, who does.

And those rankings are meant to apply to both solo and duo, I compiled the list from personal experience and by analyzing the leaderboards as well as requesting other high ranked player opinions, they are by no means completely finalized, meaning I will most likely move them up or down later on as I play with them more. But unlike a fighting game, I don't see the tiers fluctuating all that much in a game like this.

Sure Agent Wong, though you might want to go over my original post as well as the FAQ I linked to, it might help you out quite abit. As for your question, and as the tier list I compiled reflects, Sheva is the better choice of the two, she has more going for her overall.

And I'd be more than willing to help you out on co-op, unfortunately I'm limited to playing on xbox live as I don't have a PS3 at the moment.
