8-4 did a fantastic job on the localization of this game. They should do Biohazard, but I think it's 16 years too late for that series to get a decent translation for once.

Aaaaanyway...

Been playing the demo of this in preparation for my copy of the game coming and i'm struggling to say i'm enjoying it. Can anyone tell me how far into the game the demo section is?

The demo only covers the prelude, where you play as Savan(I can't mention when you actually encounter him after this, in your character's story, because that's a big whopping spoiler) going to seek out the Dragon, killing a Chimera on his way. The griffin fight is a random repeatable encounter while in the area of Gran Soren as well as an actual quest. The demo makes you play Savan as the default for your character in that quest, but the whole game is about customizing yourself and your pawn, being able to change your class/vocation(and have certain skills carry over from each class, which are equippable) whenever you want. The third and fourth pawns you make use of in your group, are pawns that you hire that were made by other users, and are changeable at anytime. This game's all about variation and versatility.

The demo literally touches nothing about this game. :P

I'm not hating on this game, but I wonder how many of those sales where from Resi fans trying to get their hands on a demo? Will they carry over to a sequel with no Resi demo?

Not many considering that western sales were weak. The vast majority of sales were from Japan and of the PS3 version. While it's safe to assume that a certain percentage of sales came from the demo incentive, it can't account for the bulk of them.

The Japanese saw it as a different flavoured, console Monster Hunter than anything else and that hit the spot.

Still the demo thing then? Great.
