They need to put Rau Utu from The Mark of Kri (PS2). That game was soooo good! I rarely, if ever, hear people talk about it. One of the very underrated SCE titles.

Thanks Foxy... but still not ringing a bell, haha.

I can't help but get my hopes up... this is the only other "port/clone" of
a game I've ever wanted for the ps3. The other being Outbreak...
but anyways, Fat princess has to be my main... even though her playstyle
seem's very different to Peach's.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown coming out on PSN/XBL June 5-6th for $14.99

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2012/may/ ... price-tag/

DLC item packs per character for $5 include 400-600 customization items. There's also half the rosters packs for $14.99 and the second half for another $14.99. So $30 in total if you want everyones customization items. Though it implies there's 400-600 per char, I have a feeling they might have actually meant the packs in total contain 400-600 customization items to use and each chars pack is $5 each. So not really sure how many items per char is available until release but we'll see. Either way, at $20 for game + customization pack for your main char, that's still a steal.

Definitely looking forward to it :)

Edit: Looks like I was wrong! This is from Famitsu:

Quote:
Q: However, the items are extra DLC?
M: The minimum amount of items 1 character has is 600 pieces, and the largest being around 900.

600-900 DLC customizatin items 'per' character? The $5 price tag is waaaaaaaaaaay worth it.

Although this part kinda sucks:

Quote:
For those who are interested the items, we figured that allowing people to buy the DLC and customize quickly was a good idea, but even if you don't you can still enjoy playing the game. Also, I think I should mention this first, but if you don't have the items purchased, then you won't be able to see those items even if your opponent has them equipped. (Reno's note: This means that DLC is NOT included in the final game, so it is a size issue due to XBLA.)

Here's the full interview if anyones interested:

^ Really excited for Final Showdown. I've long since given up buying fighters for both PS3 and 360, but to show my support to Sega, I may actually end up buying both console versions and DLC content. Not right away, but at some point I will definitely have both. With kof XIII and this, my summer for fighters is all set.

On another note: Ikari, I'm surprised you don't talk about kof XIII much nor have attempted any match making on here for it. Do you have it? And if so, do you like it? Just so you know, this is not a trolling attempt or an attempt to antagonize you. I'm legitimately curious. After the incomplete mess that was kof XII, I figured you of all people would share in the series "revival" with XIII. In my honest opinion, with SC V being a close contender, I think kof XIII is the best fighter this generation.

I'm all for VF5:FS and can't wait for it. I thorougly enjoyed VF4: Evo and 5 on 360. So FS looks great.

Anyway in regards to XIII. I don't know. I rented it from gamefly and tried it, but, just couldn't get into it for some reason. The aethetics of it were just eh. The music wasn't that great and the voices annoyed me and the lack of special intros etc. I know that sounds petty when the main point should be the gameplay. But, it just didn't have the 'magic' that I loved about the KOF series prior. And I still despise the art style for a lot of the chars they went with. Ralf for example is abysmal. And I still hate the current playstyle of King who was my main in all the others. But, since 2003, they just pretty much destroyed all the things I liked about her gameplay and made her projectile heavy instead.

Gameplay itself I can't judge. I didn't like it when I played it, but, at the time I was heavily into (U)MvC3 and all (still am), so I guess going back to KOF felt far more sluggish by comparison and I couldn't get into it right away. But to be fair, I didn't give it a fair chance because I was far more invested in Marvel at the time and I think I played KOF for maybe an hour at best. No time at all to learn anything or even really give the game a fair chance.

Never mind that no one I knew at the time I had it, had it to play with me. And as you know, my enjoyment of fighters comes from playing against others. So yeah, it got sent back pretty fast and I never gave it a fair chance. Same thing with Soul Cal V. I have it borrowed for ps3 but I only played it about an hour or so and never gave it a fair chance. I did spend the time to re-learn Ivy and all in training when I was playing (all of which i've forgotten by this point) but, I just didn't get into it yet. Lack of friends to play it with on PS3 again doesn't help.

I'd like to give XIII another chance but Yama's the only one on my friends list with the game. So I dunno. I'm glad KOF is getting recognition finally. Just not sure I really like the direction SNK Playmore has gone with the series as it doesn't feel like the KOF I fell in love with. Again, i don't know. I also miss some of my favs like Vanessa and Whip. And I miss playing Ralf but I just can't take him seriously the way he looks in current style, ug. And I miss the way Leona used to play too.

I guess that's one of my problems with the game. None of my chars I liked to play feel 'right' compaired to how I've known them for 10+ years of playing them. They've all changed so drastically. '98UM, '2k, and '2k2UM are still the three best to me. Love 99 too but that's almost 100% entirely from an aethetics point of view rather than gameplay.

I understand where you're coming from with the changes regarding moves and such. It became somewhat of an annoyance in the past with previous kofs, but I always just dealt with it and adapted (best example being Robert's command input style from '98 being changed to a charge style in '99/2000). At the end of the day, I'm all about the game play so things such as intro poses are trivial to me, though they were pretty cool in the past. It took awhile for me to get used to the sprite changes they made to Ralf and Clark, so I agree with you on missing their old regular military build with their mercenary outfits. King, despite the drastic changes she's undergone, is an extremely good character. Ironically enough, she can actually zone pretty effectively and since that is your preferred style, I am really surprised that she doesn't interest you. Personally, I think having double strike as a special while having air and ground venom strikes is a bit on the overkill side, so I can see why they turned that into a super. Illusion Dance was completely useless. If a person played against King seriously and played good defense, there was no way to use Illusion Dance effectively. It's start-up was pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, I liked the super as well and feel like they could have included it and just buffed it to make it viable, but I can see why they opted to remove it. Surprise rose as a super, no clue, but it's a damn good super and can punish a lot of stuff on block. Point is: King's good. So with all the changes, she's an extremely viable character and would fit your playstyle. Her rushdown game is really good also. I can also tell you didn't give the game much of a chance, because Leona definitely plays the same, if not better. Only problem is she's kinda weak without meter, but she can still go in and do her instant overhead shenanigans.

As for things such as music, well while I enjoy a good amount of the tracks from XIII, I always tend to stream some of the classic themes from my pc and play them during matches. In any case, it's all about adjusting to the changes and trying to make it work. I feel that if a person is a competitive player, they shouldn't drop a game nor a character because of changes. Best example I can give is Yama sticking with Natsu in SC V despite the retarded nerfs they gave her and still making her viable as hell. I also wasn't fond of how they changed Clark, i missed his Frankensteiner, his anti-air grab, and his tackle command grab. But I adjusted to changes and found that Clark is actually pretty viable.

And come on, don't you think it's just a wee bit "biased" that you'd be excited for Final Showdown which is going to be Version B and we've been stuck with Vanilla VF5 Version C for the past couple of years. So you KNOW there's going to be a lot of changes. By me saying that, I'm just throwing it out there that you should definitely give kof XIII a second chance. I'd even play it with you and show you some stuff if you were ever interested.

Like I said, I didnt give the game a fair chance. I fully admit that. I was too caught up in Marvel at the time to really bother with another fighter. But I'll likely give it another chance eventually.

In regards to King. I dont play zoning only chars. I play versatile chars. My main team in ultimate is trish, dorm, doom. I like zoning and all but i like versatile chars that can adapt as needed since zoning doesnt always work in every situation and you need To be able to put pressure and rushdown. Thats why i loved King. She was thr most versatile char in the series and really powerful. Removing half her options to focus on fireballs made her boring to me.

And since when was illusion dance not viable? You used to tell me when we played how BS it was when id activate it when you were about to do a grab or something and her hopback invincibility frames made it miss and her Dance connect on you instead.

And about VF. Im well aware of the changes. Its been so long id have to relearn brad anyway so im not too concerned. Vf4 evo brad is very diff from vf5 brad afterall but i didnt mind because they didnt remove half his good moves and totally change his playstyle. And i dont expect FS to do that either.

Anticipating that you'd bring that up, that was why I mentioned "played seriously". Majority of the time I kept trying to find ways to stuff it since "Ranbu type" DMs (for those who don't know, those are the supers where a character dashes in and does a series of punches/kicks/scratches as a super) are actually stuffable in kof and randomly trade. Either that or I'd try to counter it with a DM/SDM of mine own and still eat it. I kept eating it due to it's invincibility, but at the time I didn't know that and nothing beats a failure but a try. Obviously if I really wanted to avoid it (and have more than one occasion have in our matches) I would easily block it and punish accordingly. It's useless in the sense that you can't combo into it, it can't punish because of it's start-up, and it's so punishable it doesn't even have a purpose of throwing it out for the sake of it. If you throw it out there and a person tries to actually do anything without knowledge of it's invincibility, then that's on them. But if they play seriously defensive, it serves no purpose.

It's been like that man. Check the FAQs, forums, hell even in CvS2. It's just a bad super. And when I say bad, I mean bad that you can't use it against an opponent that knows how it works. Ever since '96 (when it was REALLY good), they toned it down on both start-up and recovery and it has been "useless". The only, ONLY recollection I have with it being "good" was in kof XI where it could be combo'd off of close standing D. But I dunno if you really played King in XI since in that game she had her 2003 changes.

In any case, I do suggest you give the game a chance. You've stated that zoning isn't JUST all you do, so you'd enjoy her thorough mix up of zoning and rush-down. You'll just have to get used to her changes, but she is still a very effective and good character. You're missing out on a fun and enjoyable game because of sheer aesthetics.

And at the end of the day, I leave this statement out there: The shit's better than kof XII. WAY much so.
