I know what you're thinking. Dragon's Dogma: that stupid game Capcom's making us buy to play the RE6 demo. I wasn't too happy about it either. But then I looked into it and the game looks incredible. There's so much freedom in the game. The developers even said that it'd take 2-3 hours in real time to walk from one end of the map to the other, so they certainly put a lot of time and effort into it.

The game does feature full-on character customization. Not just for yourself, but for your main pawn as well (pretty much your only permenant party member besides your main character). I think I'll have more fun with this than Skyrim. At one point I saw the dev pick a guy up and throw him off a building. Idk why I find that so entertaining, but it was lol. This game looks like a mix between Shadow of the Colossus and Lord of the Rings. Let me know what you guys think.

I had similar feelings regarding the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, but it's actually not too bad! I originally just wanted to blitz through it just to unlock the bonus weapon and armour for Mass Effect 3, as EA are doing some cross-promotion between the two games. But I found myself genuinely enjoying the demo for what it is, reminded me of Fable in many ways. Not my kind of game but entertaining nonetheless. It tries to get that balance between die-hard RPG and hack-and-slash adventure, but doesn't quite manage the job.

A solid effort though.

Anyway, Dragon's Dogma? If there's a demo out there I'll have to give it a shot.

Considering Dragon's dogma is a new IP I think Capcom is being ridiculous bundling the RE6 demo with it. At the very least it make's sense to put the demo with Operation Racoon City; but capcom doesn't care about being logical.

Hopefully a demo comes out for Dragon's D. It somewhat interested me when it was first announced, but I can't throw down 60 bucks for a game I'm not that sure about.

Anyone know if the demo is coming to first copies only, or later copies as well?

I think its basically a westernize version of monster hunter series to me at glance.
it got all the things i wanted to happen in monster hunter like the monster climbing from SoC.
tho i wish for a better incision system, because it still looks similar to monster hunter. where if you cut the tail anyway way/or part the scripted portion will always fall off but i want it to have like a smart incision system.

really hope this new ip gets big since their mh series didn't in the west. if this ip get big, we can look forward for the next sequel and + having coop rather than a lame pawn system.

Bundling the RE6 demo with dragon's Dogma is a terrible move by Capcom. But, only from 'our' standpoint. From Capcom's standpoint, it's a genious business decision. DD is a new IP as mentioned and isn't guaranteed to sell well. What better way to help inflate sales and get people to try the game than to have it come with a highly anticipated demo from one of capcom's most profitable and famous IP's?

Again, from a business standpoint, it's a solid move. As a fan, I'm not happy with the move because it means I have to buy a game I would never normally buy. But, from a business perspective, I respect the decision because it's great marketing for their new IP.

When the devs were asked if there was s demo coming, they said they couldn't talk about it. So perhaps there will be one. I hope so anyway. Even though the game looks great, I'd still rather play it for myself first.

For those of you that are not sure about this game (like I am), then perhaps this video might help you with your decision.

Why not? It worked with Halo 3 and Crackdown?

Why offer it to a fanbase you've already got your hooks into when you can attract that same fanbase to a new IP? It's perfectly logical.

And like i said when it came out, it's not as if you really have to buy Dragon's Dogma brand new really. Other options include...

RENTING
Most Blockbuster stores that offer rentals just sling out their copies with all of the junk that comes inside the games. Have scored free DLC for Alan Wake and Arkham City amongst others in the past just from renting.

WAITING
There's no indication yet the demo codes will be limited - to do would be shooting themselves in the foot even more. If the demo doesn't launch until two months after the game's release, wait it out! It's a new IP - a few weeks of sales and you'll likely be able to pick it up for something ridiculous closer to July (or September for those with a lesser console).

EBAYING
This might surprise some but the gaming world doesn't revolve around Resident Evil. There will actually be people buying Dragon's Dogma who don't give two shits about the demo - obviously a good number of those will want to rake in some extra money by placing their codes on eBay.

MANNING UP
It's only a fucking demo :)

Anyway, demo out on the 360 next Tuesday.
