Can you guys drop it? I don't want to see 10 more pages with the same stuff in the morning. Leave it to PMs, otherwise you are risking a ban for constantly derailing a topic.

Also, do not bring fights from other forums here. This is not the place.

Honestly, if there was a little bit more actual moderation here this wouldn't constantly be an issue with every single miscreant that finds their way here. It has nothing to do with bringing fights from other forums, he pulled the exact same shit here until someone decided to just pretend it didn't happen by deleting his posts and neglecting to bother addressing the rest of his inflammatory baiting. These people rarely get anything other than a "back on topic" warning, which 99% of the time do not work. This happens too often on this forum in general, and it's not how a forum should be moderated. I understand you guys are more forgiving and lenient than most, but this very rarely works out.

I have to agree too Rod. If I was a moderator I would've already suspended him.

While I like the lax nature of biohaze, often it does seem rather than see what's going on mods prefer to just yell at everyone and say "stop it", which isn't always helpful, especially if some people aren't actually doing anything wrong yet are getting yelled at because someone else is flaming. Espcially if its going on in multiple topics like here.

HOWEVER, I know how rough a mods job is and how much a pain in the ass it is to try and keep up with everything.

So with that in mind, if you see mat or anyone else starting crap just ignore them and use the report post button an explain the situation to a mod. It'll be easier for them to "get" the problem and who's responsible compaired to seeing pages and pages of arguing in various topics.

Mods are only people. They have lives and respnsibilities too. So myself included, lets just try and make their job easier by helping out rathet than pointing fingers.

Oh and newsbot doesn't need to shave ;)

The problem is, after I warned everyone in the thread to stop and deleted the remainder of the argument - Ikari and then NewsBot immediately ignored my post and continued. Don't talk about moderation, simply follow the rules and you'd see how quickly everything would settle, without a mile long ban list due to disagreements. Please don't question a formula that has worked since 2005, it's far from constant.

If everyone would kindly butt out, then the 'troll' would be dealt with, but if you keep feeding them I can do A) nothing, or B) ban the group. Unlike all of you, I was a moderator for years at other CNet sites and understand how it works while keeping a tighter knit community, the immediate ban hammer never helps in the long run only when forced.

Again, replying to the person instead of simply reporting and keeping quiet does not help. Follow the rules and the rules will favor you. You're both members who post lots around here too, I would think I'd be having this conversation with someone else. Again, I'm not supporting the guy, but by bypassing my verbal warning you immediately take away any authority I have and any credible input you have. Please just keep this in mind with future situations so they don't become situations and can be properly dealt with.

It hasn't worked, though. Most of the people who pull behavior like this always eventually get banned, and this is after most users on the forum call for their ban in the first place while mods ignore them and they get a free reign. Deleting posts doesn't make a dick go away, they always continue at another time. Do you think a crack disappears just because you cover it with duct-tape? No disrespect intended, but this formula is probably the worst I've seen on any forum. If someone steps out of line, delete their posts and pretend like it didn't happen and expect everyone else to incur some memory loss while the person in question shits up more discussions another time and just gets ignored again? How do you expect everyone else to follow rules when certain people break them every day and nothing gets done whatsoever except a softly worded "warning"?

Saying you can't do anything when people reply to the troll is utter nonsense, and appears to apply solely to this forum. No other forum I've seen suffers from it. Everyone in this topic other than Matieo10 was civil and acknowledging of his "points", he was the only one out of line. It's not a package deal. You can't blame everyone that replies to a troll for the troll's actions. Even if people adopted this formula of sudden memory loss coupled with collective loss of consciousness, nothing is done to the person in general. Not a single person asks for an immediate ban unless the person is an obvious joke account. Most places have a three-strike system and it works much better than the current policy here. At least then trolls have an actual threat looming over them.

News Bot thinks banning someone is the solution. You're taking things way too seriously dude. Matieo10 can be annoying at times, like in this thread, but having a cocky attitude is worth a ban according to you? Really? Besides, you're not letting this go even after Yama and Rod told everyone to stop. You've got no authority to tell them what to do after that.

The moderators have far more important things to do.. I don't know such as banning people who ACTUALLY spam like Pedro.

It's not softly worded, it's just that, a warning. If it happens thrice, or twice based on severity, they're gone. There are people after all who changed their ways, it's undeniable. I also am not going to ban a member because he or she had beef with members of another community, that is simply unfair. The worst? Hilarious bud, it's worked and always will given that the regular members follow the rules as well. Again, if I had warned the thread and everyone stopped only for one person to ignore the warning, they'd be banned. But no, regular members went over the warning and there for tarnish any good doing. Just admit it, you messed up as did Ikari. I would be lying if I said some more severe measures shouldn't be taken earlier with a few members, though I also don't know previous track records of all members coming from elsewhere. At the end of the day the system works and always has, we've formed a tight knit community that grows on a daily basis. You, me and everyone else contribute to this as you already know. I can't argue with something that has worked, but I do take heed of what everyone has to offer in the form of input as anything and everything can be improved upon. It is not perfect, I admit. But it does work if all the rules are followed by all parties. Simply follow the rules, bite your tongue and report a troll and I promise, it'll be dealt with. Bickering with them simply makes things worse, any level headed person such as yourself should know this.

I would have PM'd, but if it's said in a public topic I feel the need to reply in a public topic. It's a two way street. I don't see what could possibly be left, as all we have to agree upon is following a rule set in order to see results on both ends. Nothing more. I would however think of recanting the blunt statement made, not only was it insulting, it was also widely untrue. If you think something can be improved upon fine, but the way it was said was over the top. A site that is relaxed and respectful somehow has the worst moderation? Because we are not ban crazy when 'x' member has a disagreement? Let's face it, opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one. Doesn't mean I'm going to dislike or ban someone because they disagree with me. However if they void the TOS I do feel they should be dealt with and to an extent I agree with you, faster. But that is far from bad moderation, it can simply be improved upon. We have a ban list like everywhere else. I couldn't imagine critiquing a site in this manner. Some just say too much, seriously. I could do the same on other occasions, but that's just not in my nature.

This more or less sums it up. If every member did this, it'd be a much easier moderation task. I can't speak for the team, though I'm sure things would be handled more efficiently if this was the case, ie: faster and with less tolerance. Why do I say this? Because it wouldn't be a group battle, it'd simply be one member acting a fool. They'd be reported, nobody else in the wrong and they'd be dealt with. If you partake, you're just as guilty. Seriously Ikari nailed it, now let's follow suit.
