With only a bit more than a week away from release, Capcom has already started sending review copies of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City to gaming journalists. One of them is UK website Push Start, who got the PS3 version of the game. The case mentions a free "Spec Ops Mission 1" DLC to be released on April 11th (Europe).

UPDATE - The DLC will be released a day earlier on North America (April 10) and will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 users. The mission puts players on the shoes of a US Spec Ops team sent to determine the source of the outbreak and "fans of the series are sure to be pleased when they re-visit the moment Jill Valentine encounters the Nemesis."

So we probably will have to buy rest of the spec ops mission individually. Nice. *sarcasm*

Once again RE:ORC doesn't fail to disappoint. I used to be so excited about this game, but now I can't even buy the first version of it. I wonder if they'll just make more copies in the future with content already installed like they pulled with MvC3.

I hope that there's not some sort of deadline to download those because I plan on getting the game when it's at most 40 bucks or less. Or maybe I should just wait for the ultimate edition one or something.

Hang on a minute - where did the (since deleted) initial source even mention the word "exclusive"?

Oh that's right. It didn't.

That's what I get for trusting my communities comments. Didn't get to read, was on the go. Stu is right, it didn't.

Amateur!!

Only stems from the fact it was spotted on a PS3 box.

Just got an email from Capcom Press about it, it's releasing a day earlier on NA (April 10) for both PS3 and 360.

Capcom PR wrote:
Capcom takes the story of Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City one step further with an all-new mission available for download beginning April 10 in North America at no charge.

Deployed to Raccoon City to establish the truth behind what led to the deadly virus outbreak, the Spec Ops squad will meet a familiar face on their journey. Fans of the series will be able to re-visit the moment when Jill Valentine encounters the Nemesis, sent by Umbrella to eliminate all S.T.A.R.S members. On a battle field that can only exist within the terrifying Resident Evil universe, players will need to fight off the opposing team members from the Umbrella Security Service as well as zombies and B.O.W.’s to succeed in their mission.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City will be available in North America on March 20 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
