Hopefully it's an up-to-date build.

I think they made a spelling mistake in the URL. Should it not be re_orc instead of re_ocr?

Biohazard mode seems like fun.

Yuppers, just got back from the tourney! So I suppose here's a good place to talk about how things went.

Firstly those who showed up early were certainly one of the 32 players who got a shot. Every one was given the same Spec Ops and USS patches as before as well as the same USS pin. On top of that, a little red heart container with candy sporting the Gamespot logo. The first 32 were given colored bandanas to show their team affiliation to keep as well.

VERSUS MODE!
Versus mode was tons of fun and it was also a lot harder than it looked! I can't emphasize team communication and coordination enough. The first round of the tourney was in Team Attack, which is basically TDM. Grenades were THE go-to method for killing players, very effective. Special weapons that are unlocked in the stage itself have a huge damage rate. My teammate obtained the flamethrower and (with good distance) it annihilated the opposing team. Zombies are worth 25 points and enemy players are 75 with additional points given to brutal kills or executions. Right away a team strategy comes in handy. Getting a mixture of zombie and player kills will surely help secure more points right away. First team to reach maximum points wins or most points win when timer runs out. Our game was fairly exciting, neck-to-neck! Soon it was just a mad scramble in the last seconds to kill everything in our way to muster as many points as possible.

The second round was the capture the flag game type, securing viral samples. Now this too was more challenging than it looked in videos. First team to get all five back to their base wins or most vials obtained wins when the timer runs out. With zombies and a tyrant running around in the middle of the stage it made it very interesting. There's no one single route that's safe when obtaining vials and again, team work is all too important. Our team attempted a strategy to have our explosive member remain back at base with mines while three of us went forth to get the vials. But once the action hits things never go according to plan. I found the maps to be really big, so many nooks and crannies, it's easy for players to feel lost and get separated from the team. Especially when respawning. Unfortunately, our team lost this one.

The last round was Heroes mode! Horray! This mode looked so much fun! The heroes/villains characters take a TON of punishment and don't go down easily. Even when faced with several zombies and being melee'd by enemies, they can barely get down halfway in their life. But once they're killed the momentum shifts. Any heroes/villains killed - those players respawn with the Wolfpack/Spec Ops characters instead and have ordinary defenses. Infinite respawns here and the object is to kill off all the heroes/villains characters. Lots of fun and probably one of the longest game types to be played. Medic class is probably the most crucial here. Being able to boost-heal the whole team will help keep them alive longer.

So my team came in at third place! What was the prize? A little grab bag with a sticker that reads "zombie repellent" on a shotgun. Pretty cool. A glow-in-the-dark toy gun, the kind you find at a pharmacy as a last minute gift for some poor kid. Aaannd *drum roll* a DVD copy of the first RE movie. Second place I think got the same grab bag. First place however... lemme just say two of the same guys from the last winning team (who won the USS jackets) were part of this team too. DAMN! Argh. Ok, first place gets: A black Umbrella Corporation shoulder bag (kinda similar to the Tricell one) Inside the bag is a USS t-shirt, the same they handed out at the last event. They also get a poster I think, couldn't see what was on it. And each member received a $100 gift card to Best Buy. I overheard one of the Gamespot folks say they also get a free copy of the game, via a reservation at Best Buy? That's unconfirmed, I'm not sure.

The event itself was well done. There was a zombie couple walking around, a bride and groom. And as I understand they had a zombie wedding! Caterers in zombie makeup served up some mac n cheese balls, cupcakes, cake, and all sorts of treats! And I think there was a third station that was for casual versus play outside the tourney for other players.

I didn't run into any bugs and the game felt like it was finished, no negatives to really talk about. I thought I saw another invisible enemy bug when others were playing but, I can't say for sure.

So to sum up, versus mode is fun but highly competitive. It would be a typical TPS game but the zombies and other enemies make it very unpredictable. These undead foes keep you constantly moving and a horde can force you travel down a different path on the map. You might ask yourself do you take down the horde in front of you or conserve ammo for the enemy team? And although Heroes mode characters are just "alt skins/audio" for existing character types - it's still satisfying as all hell to be classic characters. The game types are also challenging, with maps so large it'll take a while to learn them. If you don't like the multiplayer side of things, then that you may dislike all of this. And I can understand that. I do wish there were other modes to play that weren't versus. Again, like GOW3's Horde/Beast mode. A game mode aside campaign that still team based but not competing against another team - that would nice. But so far the game continues to be addicting. Even other players arrived today with their doubts but after some game time they've been convinced to get it.

And that's it for all the ORC events! The only thing next is the game's release!

I have a serious question, Wolf:

How was the T-Virus milkshake? What was in that anyway?

Aaannd *drum roll* a DVD copy of the first RE movie.

Let me guess, Anderson's filth? Clearly not real fans.

Also, you weren't that cunt wearing the fedora were you? I hope not, hahaha. God, what kind of knobgobbler wears a hat indoors? It looked more like a hipster get-together, those weren't real fans. You think die-hard fans would dress that way? But it was San Francisco I suppose.

T-Virus milkshake? I actually missed that! Sorry I can't say I tried it but now I wish I had!

Yes, it's the Anderson film with Jovovich and Rodriguez. The special edition no less, according to the case it features such magical things as animated menus and scene selections! :D

LOL A fedora indoors?! No, that totally was not me. There were quite a few different people but yeah, I didn't know why some kinda "dressed up" for the occasion. I'm not sure about "real fans" but most of the crowd seemed like casual gamers if anything.

Ah, thank you for the responses. Apologies for the knobgobbler remark, wasn't directed towards you but unsurprisingly you've confirmed what I suspected about the crowd there. Most of them being casual gamers. T-virus milkshake was mentioned on the live stream by the host, something about a free bar and milkshakes being given out. No idea what was in them, to be fair the milkshake interests me more than the game at this point. Someone mentioned 'vanilla', however.

Also, as expected - Anderson's hogwash. Which serves to accentuate my previous statement about them being casual gamers and not genuine fans of the franchise.

Out of curiosity which characters did you play in each round? And your team name once more?
