The SH seems to be a good one.

I never played one before, but I here and looks like the series is good.

I just never really cared to venture to play the SH series.

If you want to be scared, you have to play it.

Silent Hill 3 scared the crap out of me when blood started filling the room and covering your body...one of the creepiest moments in videogame history IMO.

I'm a huge horror nut ( duh, why would I be on this site? ) and love anything that pertains to exploring and disturbing / horror related elements. But for some reason, i've never played the original Silent Hill. I rented the movie today, watched 20 minutes of it, and fell in love with the atmosphere. The setting alone has left me deeply intrigued...and i'm dying to play the game. So, I stopped the movie not wanting to spoil the rest of the story. The only thing that bugs me is the fact that it's a PSone game...which means the graphics suck. A lot. So...is it worth playing the original? Or would it just be an "Wow I wish I played this in 1997" kind of experience?

Play it!! Graphics don't make a game good....They just enhance the experience. SH 1 is still my favorite out of all four. The story is so intriguing... you'll actually be dissapointed with the movie. So go ahead and watch the movie first and then play the game. Trust me.

What he said, plus one thing:

Silent Hill: The Movie, is, in reality, "Silent Hill for dummies". No, really.

I think the original was pretty awesome..where you go into the alley and see the mangled corpse on the fence. I love the movie too'with the badass red pyramid and them creatures that cybill shot near yer motor cycle.

The first game is the best SH overall, but I've always thought SH 2 has the best story so far.

Only problem is, it isn't as scary as SH 1.

True. I jumped and seemed to be full of fear all the time in SH1. It was either the 'sound' fear or the oh shit'oh shit im gonna die' kind of fear.
