Here is the story which got started on neogaf.

The US studio, responsible for 2008 games Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Legendary (previously Legendary: The Box), refused to answer questions about its unannounced third-person action/horror game, pre-production of which began last month.
The mystery project is, according to Spark, a "breakout game based on an established console franchise". In a job advert it is described as a "bold new take on [the] third-person action/horror genre".
It is also referred to as a "franchise and genre extending game" for the current generation consoles, and is being made using Epic Games' Unreal Engine.
Posters on NeoGAF made the link to Resident Evil after noticing a VFX designer who worked at Capcom for 11 years, including on Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, joined Spark in October 2011.

If this turns out to be true I am going to have a shit storm. There are no words to describe the idiocy of Capcom if they do this to their biggest franchise.

I don't think it is, first given how Capcom has talked about the game in recent interviews (going back to the roots of the franchise) and since Revelations, an in-house developed game, is said to be closely tied with 6 I reeeeeally doubt they'd go with a western developer.

The link with the VFX designer is a pretty weak "evidence" too. People who work on the videogame industry move from company to company on a regular basis. Working on X game, especially in the VFX field, doesn't mean you're necessarily working on its sequel years later.

Oh and RE6 has been on the works for quite some time now, probably early 2010.

I always thought that quote was quite laughable. Who said it anyway?

My predictions are the following: official reveal at E3 2012, release on late 2013 (work on cutscenes and voice overs would be done/almost done according to The Thrid Floor Inc.'s report and last weeks' voice actors leaks).

Yeah, that seems ridiculously long of a wait time, Rod's idea sounds more realistic. I mean RE6 may be very anticipated, but we don't want it turning into another Duke Nukem. :lol:

Well, they allowed Slant Six to work on a title within that prized franchise. Slant Six of course being known for making the less than well received releases of the SOCOM series, so who knows. Mind you, ORC is a spin-off and not a numbered release.

RE6 has already been in development. If this thing just went into 'pre'production, that's enough evidence right there that it's not RE6.
