Been playing alot of Dark Souls.
I know alot of others here have aswell.

It hasent been kicking my ass as much as I thought, but rather its been a time investment in leveling up to be compitent against enemies and bosses. I first started out as a magic user and didnt like the fact the mana bar has been taken away. I dont think the mechanic of mana bars are broken at all, so I dont like the decision From Software made there. Being limited to a certain amount of uses brings me to just before a boss fight and then I have limited uses during a fight. Im still going to play that class but I also re-rolled into a Warrior and am going pure melee. That seems to be favorable to me right now as I do my first play through and im moving through the game at a faster pace.

Overall I like the game very much, but im actually missing Demon's Souls abit more and how that game worked. I liked having a central hub, mana bar and consumables that are set to how many you own rather then how many charges you have left between bonfires.
Dont get me wrong though I see the further difficulty of taking these things away but I just have a preference for how Demon's Souls worked instead. I also understand their was a surplus of consumables in Demon's Souls aswell and I dont see why they couldnt have just limited the amount of consumables rather then take them away.
On the other end though I really like how they intertwined old area's and new with smart backtracking. I think its a great game. :)

In terms of progress so far im just past the Capra Demon and Gaping Dragon.

Literally half of the people on my friends list on the PSN have been playing this.

Whoever likes Demon's Souls and now Dark Souls, I suggest playing King's Field I-IV and Shadow Tower I and II. I'd say out of the bunch, including both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, King's Field II-IV are still superior. My grandpa is actually a hardcore KF fan, we've played the series through hundreds of times over the years. Really great game and severely underrated.

God, why do I have a feeling that your grandpa is the same age as my dad?

King's Field 2 takes me back and I'm surprised that few have made the connection so far. I guess the high production values of the recent games and the scarcity of *true* core games made Demon Soul, and now Dark Souls, stand out titles.

Thinking about getting DS on 360.. gotta say that the full install option is making me lean towards the console more (less wear on tear on the optical drive). My only enemy is "time" nowadays.

King's Field II NTSC-U or NTSC-J?

Just for reference, the titles are as follows:

KF (JP) = Unreleased in N/A
KF II (JP) = KF in N/A
KF III (JP) = KF II in N/A
KFIV (JP) = Ancient City in N/A

My gramps is mid 70's, he just owns.

NA. Was one of the first PS1 games I've ever played. My imports during the 90's were mainly of Capcom and Namco.

And I guessed right... almost. My dad is turning 70 in a month, and he's the youngster in his family.

Interesting... been thinking of picking this up. I got to a point where in Demon's Souls, I spent more time reading bloodstains and dying than doing anything productive

I really do need to check out Kings Field too.. consider me a fan of this genre. Im having an engrossing experience with this.

And while I love the way multiplayer works, I think its very creative.. I also wish for some in game match making of sorts. I've literally been waiting near my soul sign for 20 minutes.

For this game, id recommend it on PS3 actually. Alot of reviewers are sighting frame rate drops and occasional lock ups on 360 even with installing it. Since it was developed first on PS3 I guess that might be why. But if you get it on 360 im sure it wont be THAT bad. Just going on what ive herd.
