I played again since I got my PS3 back from the shop and I feel like I've been beaten over the head with teamwork!

I know right? I didn't care for the partner thing at all. I know why Capcom did it, but seriously I'd rather have a solo campaign with no partners and a few multiplayer modes than a whole multiplayer game.

Really hoping Biohazard 6 either ditches it all together, or implements it seamlessly.

Meh partnership fits within the series.
nanomachines was a little subject that they used to explain every Metal Gear mystery when there was already a supernatural explanation. Ruining much of the series for many people.

I actually liked the partner inclusion of RE5. Having the option of co-op in an RE game is a natural progression I think but since RE5 was the first to do it in the series, a few hickups are expected. But I love I can finally play an RE game with another person. Playing solo doesn't seem so bad for me, I just know not to rely on the CPU for teamwork and pretty much do all the heavy lifting. But now that RE5 has established a base for this type of gameplay, we can only hope it gets better in the series.

Also I don't own a PS3 so I was deprived of the pleasure that is MGS4. It sounds like the inclusion of nanomachines didn't go over so well with fans.

I think Sheva has abandonment issues.

I don't mind the partner thing at all. Just hope they evolve it for future titles is all. The best option is to have allow 3 scenarios. If we go the Re1 route, we'd have Chris's story, Jill's story, and a 3rd Chris/Jill story.

So you can play solo, you can experience the game as either char, or you can play with a friend and go at it together.

That would make everyone happy and prevent any true problems. The only downside is that it involves more work to script 3 seperate scenarios like that which Capcom would probably decline to do for budge or laziness reasons.

But, either way, that's how I'd like it to go personally. Keep everyone happy. I'd enjoy experiecing the game all alone and solo like classic RE's but also be able to enjoy the game with a friend at the same time.

Co-op should just flat out be optional. Make it so the second player is in no way involved in the story. Which means second player could be anyone of your choice. You could have Leon as a team mate, just because. He doesn't effect the storyline, so why not? Also they should take out co-op dependant situations like pulling levers and pushing things. I certainly wouldn't miss those.

"Would you like a partner? Yes - No."

I'm dreaming though.

I think the solo + co-op method would be the best and most seamless, personally.

Think of it as Leon A and Claire B along with Leon A + Claire A. Leon has his own scenario, Claire has hers. Both can be done solo. Or you can do a 3rd possible scenario with the two of them going it together.

Having a completely non-story related partner would be really out of place and make whoever you're playing with feel unimportant and worthless which is kinda unfair.

I know you may not have liked RE5's partner system but as a former Outbreak player, you should know how fun it can be to have someone else there with you going through the motions and trying to help and save them and vice versa.

But, if they're pointless to the story it ends up being pointless in general to have them. You either run into the problem of them dying and you continuing on without them and forcing them to watch you because story wise they don't exist so it doesn't matter if they die, or they have like infinite lives which would just break the game.

And if you fail/die if they die, then it runs into the whole "Well they have no story relevance so why do i die/fail if they die?" crap. It's just a bad design overall I think.

That's a good method, but as you stated before that would take quite a bit of manpower and overall commitment to believing the game will be successful enough to put that much effort into it. It's a gamble, but it's one worth taking as long as they go about it the right way. We might end up getting a hefty game install that's far larger than previos installs to compensate on the PS3. And that alone scares me. My idea just caters to my fan dream of being able to pair with any RE character (good or bad) without impacting the storyline. That's all my idea is at the base of it. Nothing I would enforce.
