Actually I never thougt about that, to train for facing Jill's murderer; Wesker. And it's normal to build your body up but the point was which we were talking about is his ridicuolusy Ultra-Muscles. In the end it has eligible reasons which is getting depressed after your partner died and you would be searching for sth to give rein yourself into it so that's it He gave away his control to be getting muscler. It sounds very reasonably to me.

I'm sure, as LeonsFlashlight stated, Chris's appearance is based on the Western image of an "action hero." Take a look at a lot of the action games in recent years - Halo, Gears of War, Doom 3, etc. The "heroes" are all ridiculously overbuilt with muscle, which in the real world, would slow them down and make them less agile. Pulling off the crazy acrobatics that Chris does in RE5 would be almost impossible at his size, while RE4-era Leon would have a much better chance (I'm not talking about the laser scene, btw).

This furthers my theory that RE5 was mainly marketed to testosterone-fueled, ADD-suffering male teenagers who see pro wrestlers (a sport that isn't even real) as their heroes and who will think a movie is lame if there isn't something getting blown up or someone being shot every few minutes. I'd take a normal-built guy as an "action hero" over a body builder any day, since it is more realistic.

A great example would be the recent film Predators. Instead of going with some overbuilt chunk of meat (like Schwarzenegger or similar) as the lead role, Adrien Brody was cast. Brody, for the most part, is built like an average Joe, which made the movie all the more enjoyable. Simply put, more people can relate to this type of character.
