Christ, is it really that big a deal?

Considering for some of us, myself included, Outbreak was our favorite title in the entire series, yes it kinda is. Outbreak is worthless offline. It's not fun at all and becomes boring. Online is what made it fun. Playing with others, someone screwing up and having to risk your neck for them, playing Very Hard Nightmare mode and working together to survive, that's what made the game incredibly fun.

ORC may be a 'spiritual successor' but it's still nothing the same. A third person shooter game with 100% emphasis on shooting isn't anywhere the same as Outbreak's gameplay that focused on survival and using the environment to help you. As well, it was the last real RE game to use the old style of gameplay before RE4's change-up.

I love the Outbreak series, I really do. It pushed me into creating this user name on the Capcom forums a long time ago. As much as I would love to say there is still hope for this series, sadly... I cannot. This series is and always will be dead. Pity, really.

I agree. Outbreak was actually my big introduction to Resident Evil. David King remains my favorite character in the whole series, I still enjoy it. But I have to agree, from a realistic perspetive, Outbreak is over.

I get your point guys...it's just that some people want to stick around and let capcom know that we still remember outbreak and no matter how hard they try its not going away.

Mhm... Outbreak really needs to make a comeback... before the resident evil series becomes way too far gone...

I never got a chance to play Outbreak online, and it truly saddens me. Everytime I sit down to play it by myself I can never finish it, because it gets so damn boring and tedious, the AI sucks, the loading screens arent worth it for offline play. I hate it.

I think with Revival Selection around now, there might be a small chance, I mean, theyre doing the Chronicles series, but hopefully they have a few more titles to be "revived" it would make more sense to do Files 1&2 instead of Ø and Rebirth, they would be awesome with todays online play.

Or am I just being a wishful thinker? : (

This was my experience with Outbreak exactly. I bought it when it first released, a time long before I played games online.. I knew it was prmarly an online game, butI heard from previews in GameInformer it would have a single player component as well, and being at the peak of my Resi fandom, I had to play.

To my shock, I hated the game. LOATHED it. It may be great online, but boy does the single player stink. It was then, and still is, my least favorite game in the series, second only to the horrid Survivor.

It's quite possible that they could bring back Outbreak on XBL and PSN. I've seen a few ps2 games on the PSN market place if I can recall. I'm sure they can port it over like that. However, adding online play is another story, that is a lot more unlikely in my opinion. Because that would cost more effort on their part.

It would be quite silly to put it on XBL and PSN without the online play. And I know its not impossible, It would actually be smart of them, hell, I would probably pay monthly to play this online, as would a bunch of fans. But I know Capcom is lazy when it comes to stuff like that. Damn, playing it on PSN, I would quit my job!

Biggest hope is still for a re-release of the first two titles on XBLA/PSN someday, don't see a third installment being released anytime soon.

Like the others said, yes it is a big deal. ORC and OB bare some raw similarities that make me smile, but it ends there. Two different games. Either you were a part of Outbreak or you weren't, it's not something you can just 'get' by playing it a few times offline and such. Games were amazing, as was the online.
