Well the load times wouldn't be so bad if they ported it simply because the 360/ps3 and the ps2 are different consoles. They obviously have more horsepower in the former that they'd be able to load things faster than the ps2 already. Play outbreak on your ps3 and you'll see there's virtually no load times. So load times wouldn't be an issue with a port really, especially if you're installing to the HDD.

The online would most likely be far better and without all the teleporting zombies in most respects because they'd be using a different netcode than the original ps2 one (since they claim the reason for taking file 1 down was due to the creator of that netcode pulling out and them not wanting to create new netcode themselves.) with it also being on xbox live/psn which are more stable and secure than SNAP on ps2.

So outside of new netcode, which they did for MvC2 so there's no reason they couldn't do it for Outbreak, they'd just have to update the graphics to work in HD and not be all jaggy and that's pretty much it.

More than likely they'd release them seperately as file 1 and file 2 rather than go through the effort of putting them together (they get more money from two sales than one anyway and capcom thinks like that so).

The only real issue is demand. Capcom needs to know there's a high enough demand for the game to see it's worth doing. So far I think the outbreak community has done a good job with that, but, only time will tell.

If a new netcode means no more room masters, then I'd be fine with that. It's almost unbearable and hinders the experience when only one person experiences things correctly.

Don't all online games have a host though? I know the host in RE5 versus gets little to no lag while the rest of the players do.

Good point.

It's painstakingly clear in OB, though.

Does Brawl follow the same format?

It's a fighting game so probably not. It's been awhile since I've played that but I remember that it's definition of lag is all the action slowing down to make sure everyone is even, making no one the real host (or everyone).

I just feel like it's an issue if you're better off being in a room alone as opposed to with your team mates.

Yeah, but the 360/PS3 is better online then the PS2 so it will be mostly better anyway.

A re-tooled (Optional voice chat... online capability) port is the most reasonable request on the website. There's bigger potential for sales revenue with this generation of online gaming.

Anything else is just secondary to me.

Versus does not offer a host advantage. I host all the time and still see people lagging like mother's. People teleport all over the damn screen. It all depends on how you setup your netcode and how that netcode actually 'works' that determines 'host advantage' or not. If everyone is connecting to 'you' and you're the 'host' of the game (physically hosting I mean, not just creating a room to start a game), then yes, you have host advantage. But, if the netcode connects everyone together or puts them through a central host server, there is no host advantage. As far as I can tell, Versus works with the latter structure in mind since I have never ever gotten 'Host Advantage'.

I just remember one time I was playing versus while uploading a youtube video and didn't notice anyone lagging at all, but I got a message after the game from someone calling me a lag switcher.

Maybe that was something else.
