This just came to me,wat if umbrella had some1 in the government ordered the marine unit to kill the village for umbrella's intentions? i kno it sounds weird but it could possibly be true. mabye 4 sumttin to be mention in re5.

I wouldn't put it past Umbrella those are some cold hearted people anyways if they can't buy it from you than they'll kill you for it.

The only reason that was put into the story was to give Billy Coen (only created to give Rebecca a partner in RE0) a back story.

Spencer - "I think we should order these soldiers to kill an entire village...and then maybe one of the soldiers will be framed for the entire thing!

Then he could run into a stars member and take care of James Marcus for us!

I think the civilians were just a scapegoat. They couldn't exactly say that they had lost most of their men just to wind up in the wrong village.

Yes billy's unit was ordered to kill the people of the village by umbrella. It wasn't the unit's intention but umbrella intended to kill all those innocent people.It shows it in re0 and you can find videos of it on youtube.It also talks about it in an re5 issue of gameinformer.

And why is it that Umbrella would want to kill all those innocent people...?
They're trying to keep their illegal activities a secret, not order mass killings. And game informer is also the magazine that said Claire was in Re5.

Hey every1 is entitled to their own thoughts on the subject.but i agree with glue it wouldnt be that easy to cover something like this up.but then again,it is a secluded village.not too many whitnesses around

Billy explains that his unit was sent to intervene in a civil war by raiding a guerrilla forces hideout. Billy says some of the men where killed by the enemy on the way there, or died from the heat with only 4 surviving. When they arrive at the village they think is the hideout, they discover it wasn't and Billy's unit leader orders them to attack the innocent village, probably out of anger of loosing their men on the way to the wrong destination, and frustration at the situation they are in due to lack of military intelligence (this kind of thing did happened in Vietnam)

So my conclusion;

In RE 5 we see a village, by the looks of it not the same as the one in RE 0 but who knows, with the outbreak already happening/taken over. So maybe because the unit mission failed the guerrilla's got/had hold of something belonging to Umbrella to do with the virus and allowed the village to become infected, or, all the dead bodies at the massacred village become infected by a "mysterious phenomena", and thats how it began to spread, alerting Umbrella to its presence.

Sorry if my conclusion misses out some details, I'm just throwing my 2 cents in.
