It's amazing what people are capable of when highly delirious and pain receptors are blocked. There's a notorious drug in Russia that is referred to as "krokodil", that has a necrotizing effect on the flesh of the user. I guess if you combined these so called "bath salts" with "krokodil", you'd really have zombies running around(if the effects of the combination of the two don't outright kill you).

Incredibly freaky, yes. If someone were to slip said substances into many peoples' food (like a sinister restaurant), we'd have a horde of zombies running around...

Apparently bath salts have something to do with it.

Well, with my experience as a Criminal Justice major (only half way to a Bachelor's, so let's not get crazy, now. lol) :

The case of the man dismembering his roommate, dumping his remains after taking off the common body parts such as hands, legs, etc- obviously shows him, in a possibility, having a severe metal issues or emotional distress (it's common sense right? Anyone who does something that fucked up is obviously bonkers.) BUT, generally the act of dismembering has been argued to be an act of regret in order to make the body, literally dissipate. The fact that he ate his Roommate's heart and brain in particular is a common ritual used by cannibals in order to gain from taking the life of another- like a form of power and control over their victim. The point being, this was an attack that was more than likely planned with a motive of jealousy mixed with his unstable mental status. Since he has made an attack before, it's also pointing heavily towards an violent and aggressive nature, leading to one of the most insane practices in the criminal world, and that is eating a victim. That's my opinion on that story. It just so happened that a guy ate his room-mate out of sheer instability and in no way had anything to do with zombiism, or so to speak.

In the case of the New Jersey man (nothing had been confirmed whether he was on drugs or mentally distressed by what I read-) It very much is a possibility of drugs since he obviously stood the pain of tearing out his own intestines- if it is an controlled substance, then like the anthrax panic, it will more than likely be contained. This also lacks any real "zombie" behavior as people have been known to self-harm and even more often in front of the police once they've been confronted.

And for the "Miami Face-Chewing." This points to drugs almost indefinitely. But being able to take off your clothes and violently fight another person (and in this case, a homeless person was the only one being attacked out of ALL the passerby's) shows that the holder was probably apt to more than just basic function. Also not very zombie-like....considering the victim had also been beaten and kicked. I've also noticed that the victim has not turned into a flesh-eating monster...(YET)


tl;dr : This zombie thing has been spun out of context and the only thing bizarre about it is that it happened within the same week. Murders and Drug-related attacks happen every few minutes in the US. When each case is looked at differently, it doesn't point to ANYTHING that has ANYTHING to do with acts of being a zombie. These people are just fucking retarded and need to get butt-raped in prison for their crimes. (Other than the guy who got a cap popped in him. Oh well.)
