Your stating your opinion so others are allowed to have theirs.

Did I ever say otherwise?

You asked why people are defending them while dismissing anything contrary to what you said.

Everyones entitled to their opinion, never said otherwise. It just baffled me as to why people would choose to defend a developer who just took a steaming dump on the franchise. Thats all.

I didn't so much dismiss what other people said, just strongly disagreed, and questioned why they feel SS should be immune to such harsh criticism. That was my intent atleast.

You make it seem like /6 walked right through Capcom's doors, demanded the job, then got it, and that was all she wrote!

No. Capcom hired them. If there's a finger to be pointed, it's at Capcom for hiring a Western developer, to develop a game catered towards a Western audience, to further alienate what's left of the die hard RE fanbase. Resident Evil isn't the only franchise Capcom's dropped the ball on either - it baffles me how many people still defend them in this day and age.

Capcom's dropped the ball on more than one occasion, no denying that. They certainly know how to give their fan base the shaft. I'm not saying Capcom's not to blame here. Ultimately, this is both Slantsix and Capcom's failure.

I personally think it started with RE5 (the base game, not the DLC). That's where it completely changed into being action. No horror, no survival, just run-and-gun (well, stop, since you can't shoot and move at the same time). It's not like Slant Six just decided on this out of nowhere and CAPCOM will be bringing the same elements into RE6, which I'm sure people will be buying even though they think ORC should have never happened.

Anyway, this is where customers should speak with their wallets. Don't like the game and don't like where CAPCOM is taking the RE series? Don't buy it, boycott, make your voice heard, and they'll get the idea.

In today's market I doubt even boycotting would work. It's like 75% modern day shooter fans. 24% fans of the originals who played the originals upon release and buy the games regardless. 1% people that still play the originals and protest Capcom by not buying any of their new games. Obviously those figures are made up, but it basically means that it wouldn't be a terribly noticeable movement to begin with. The majority of people are either fine or don't care with the direction the series is headed in.

BTW I love those keychains/charms you have for sale in your sig. That Ghost one is really adorable, despite it being, you know, Ghost.

Fair enough. I can agree with that.

Resident Evil 5 was a disapointment on many levels. However, fundamently it was still a good game. It had well polished mechanics for the most part, even if alot of the ideas had no business in a RE game.
The same cannot be said of ORC, not only is it mindless action, it's also a glitchy, unpolished pain to play. The game just feels unfinished.

This whole "RE is all action and gone to hell" argument is silly. Maybe it held some weight at RE5's release, but, right now? No.

There are two fundamental groups of RE fans. New fans and classic fans. New fans like the action, classic like survival horror. For Capcom to pick and choose one over the other would alienate an entire group of fans. Instead, Capcom WISELY chose to try to please both crowds. With that, they made Revelations to appease SH fans and ORC to please action fans. And RE6 is trying to incorporate both styles.

Yet, all I hear from SH fans is them using ORC as a way to say RE is all action now and sucks. It's like they completely forget Revelations exists and that RE6 is trying to do both styles. Using the one game PURPOSELY tailored TO the action crowd as a way to try and demean the entire series as guilty of this is pretty ignorant.

It seems like SH fans can't seem to accept co-existance with action horror. It's the same thing with RE5's DLC. LiN is a throwback to classic RE while DE is basically RE5 on crack. One focuses on survival horror, the other on action horror. It's Capcom trying to appease both fanbases and that's a SMART move.

If you don't like Action Horror, then don't play the Action Horror titles. Stick to the Survival Horror stuff. But, don't get pissy because they exist. They're not going anywhere.
