They made a sequel to the original Day of the Dead.

Well, the producer was the rights holder for Night Of The Living Dead, so he and Romero could make their own sequels to it. So, that is why Return Of The Living Dead was made. Although, I think as the series progressed, copyrights got sold and so both series got their own sequels that really were not really sequels as such. They moved it around a lot.

Title:Dawn of the Dead

Director:George A. Romero

Released:September 2, 1978

Cast:
David Emge
Ken Foree
Scott H. Reiniger
Gaylen Ross
Tom Savini

Synopsis:
Survivors hold up in a mall to save themselves from the undead.

Where would you go during a crisis? the first thing you would think would be your own home. But no, not with the living dead pounding on your front door.So where's the next best place, Somewhere safe and familiar? The answer in this case.......the local mall of course. George Romero expresses his thought on consumerism very well during his film. For example, the zombies are drawn by a mysterious force that compels them to go there. When the survivors arrive, they take advantage of the situation by making their own kingdom of luxury. In the end, it was that luxury that killed most of the group.

Final Thoughts: This film is just another example of fine cinematography that George Romero has offered us. thats why i give Dawn of the Dead,
:rcg: :rcg: :rcg: :rcg: :rcg: /out of 5.

*Did you know.......That Tom Savini acted, and did the make up for both Dawn and Day of the Dead. He also directed the 1990 remake of Night of the living dead*

The next Retrospect,"Day of the Dead"
Will be posted on Tuesday. So pleased, stay tuned.

Night of the Living Dead for me. I believe it was the first Zombie movie I ever saw, actually.

Yet again, another great retrospect.

That's Taurus Entertainment, run by Ana Clavell. They apparently are not liked by George Romero. You see, he at some point sold the rights of Creepshow, Day Of The Dead and Knightriders, so now they can do unofficial sequels without his consent.

I can't believe Night of the Living Dead is getting more votes than the sublime Dawn of the Dead. I find the original 'Night' almost unwatchable now. Revolutionary yes, but now more valuable as a cinematic relic than as an effective thriller. I much prefer the 1990 Tom Savini remake. It's in glorious color; it's gorier, with zombies that actually look like zombies; and with a badass Barbra that seems to have graduated from the school of Ripley. But 'Dawn' is for me the standard bearer of the series. It's still incredibly tense, creepy, and still funny too. For me there's more memorable sequences in 'Dawn' than in 'Night'. It's also worth noting that in 'Dawn' Romero collaborated with that other horror master, Dario Argento. In fact, the story goes that Romero wasn't really planning to do another zombie movie. Argento called him all the way from Italy, and convinced him to do another one. So Argento invited him over, and Romero wrote 'Dawn' in Rome. And also worth noting is that Dario Argento's daughter, the gorgeous Asia Argento, is one of the leading characters in Romero's 'Land of the Dead'.

Asia is the daughter of Dario Argento, the first real-life Romero rip off. Although that's a wee bitty harsh. He did actually do the zombie effects a lot better than Romero, even if George's movies were better made.

Actually, I think you're mistaking Dario Argento with Lucio Fulci. Argento was a friend of Romero's but he didn't make zombie movies. He's better known for his supernatural 'Three Mothers' trilogy, of which 'Suspiria' is the best. Lucio Fulci was the Romero rip-off, famous for 'Zombi' and 'City of the Living Dead'.

Even if it was a rip-off zombi was awesome.
