I personally don't think the actress playing Heather looks too much like her. Heather looks a bit skinnier and "tired," her dull complexion hidden behind her tear stained eyes from her horrific adventures. During a couple of the screenshots, I noticed "Heather's" face is dirty but not as flawed as her video game counterpart.

I'm excited nonetheless since they just started shooting, but I have incredibly high expectations.

*Edit* Fucking seriously Heather actress, LOSE SOME WEIGHT. >=C

I was skeptical from the start when I found out they were gonna use Heather Mason as the basis for this sequel. Because I thought Silent Hill 3 was one of the very best games in the franchise. I was like, I love the idea, but if they don't do a good job, I'll wish they had left well enough alone. However, I've seen production photos, and it does look very Silent Hill like, and it's great that Rose and Dahlia are gonna be back in it. I hope the actress playing Heather has actually played the game, and not just been reading source material about the series. I don't really enjoy over acting of a character, as I think that ruins a movie. But I really want Heather to be brought to the big screen in a way that is very befitting.

I fully agree with Yama on the movie. It was basically the best game to movie adaption I've seen so far (Well, Mortal Kombat is arguably the best for that. The first one anyway. Second one was trash). It was far from perfect and it did take plenty of liberties with the story, but, it was the only game to movie to actually take the storyline of the game and try it's best to KEEP that storyline while simply translating it into a movie narrative. And for that, I can forgive the changes.

It's not like most game to movies where they take a VERY basic concept from the storyline and run with it in some completely obscured, unrelatable original story. (IE: Resident Evil, Tekken, King of Fighters, etc. etc.)

There were only two real problems with the first SH movie:

1) Sean Bean's char. Everytime they went back to the 'real world' to show Chris DaSilva looking for Rose with Gucci, it just really took you 'out' of the experience. While you were following Rose, you were immersed in Silent Hill and it's atmosphere. When it randomly switched back to Chris, you were taken out of it and just spoonfed backstory they couldn't seem to figure out how to integrate otherwise.

2) "The Truth" segment. Another example of them just spoon-feeding you backstory without any better idea on how to incorporate it. It just felt so............out of place? Rose makes it to Alessa and hears "You made it. Congratulations. Your Reward? The Truth" followed by flashbacks explaining Alessa's backstory.

It just felt so forced because it totally was. I think they could have done a better job at explaining the backstory without resorting to such poor and forced narratives.

I hope they're able to fix that in SH2.

Also, to whoever said SH2 should have been what the movie was about, I disagree. Maybe as a SH fan you want to see SH2 the movie and I can understand that. But, keep in mind, many of the people who went to see the first movie were just casual movie goers, not fans of the game. So obviously, it makes the most sense to continue the storyline of the first movie like SH3 does. Having the second movie completely ignore the ending of the first film and go into James' story would confuse a lot of people.

Lastly, to the person saying Heather's actress needs to lose weight, I disagree. Part of the likability of Heather was that she 'wasn't' some typical 'hot' girl. She wasn't glamorous or oversexed. She was flawed. She was an 'average' girl with 'average' complexion and 'average' features.

Having the actress having a tiny bit of weight to her goes along with that. The actress is by no means fat, she's just 'average' and not a petite little thing like you expect from a typical 'hollywood female lead'. Again, that lends itself perfectly to Heather.

Sean BEAN damnit, do not sully his Sheffield-ian greatness.

Anyway the reason his character was put in as well as taking a character only referenced in a file and making him supporting case is becase Konami looked at the film and saw that the entire main cast was consisting entirely of woman since Chris Gans doesn't seem to think that you can have a male character who cares and loves his daughter.

Sorry for my mistake, fixed it, but, yeah, I know 'why' he was put in the film. I had already read that bit. I just felt his character was entirely out of place and really ruined the immersion and atmosphere of the film everytime it kept shifting back to the 'real world' to show him.

This is awesome, so glad to see SH3 getting made. Sucks that they changed the first movie to be about a woman rather than Harry. The reason SH3 works so well is because of that twist.

Sean Bean plus Jon Snow is there too, its a Game of Thrones reunion!

BTW Silent Hill will be a an attraction at Universal Halloween Horror Nights along with The Walking Dead. I am definetly going.

Yep, I was considering going this year anyway, the announcement of Silent Hill just sealed the deal for me.

I loved the first film. One of my fave Game Films. This looks like a typical Teen Horror. I still still check it out but my hopes are a bit dashed.
