That's not his point at all. The gist of his post is that he's dissatisfied with the game because the game should be more feature rich if Mercenaries is the only attraction.

I like the game because it's just fun to casually play as Claire and playing online is enjoyable. There is minimal drive for me to complete the game though, which in my view is getting SS ranks in absolutely everything (the medals come naturally). No leaderboards hurts this game.

The mechanics are noticeably limited as mentioned before. Most normal enemies do not move at all, unless you are directly close to them. If you move fast enough, they are just fodder for melee kills or defeating in groups. They also do not attack anywhere near as often as they should. There doesn't seem to be much level variation, in both meanings; there aren't enough levels and the type of game is largely the same.

Having to manually reload adds some difficulty to gameplay, and the bosses certainly pick up the slack where normal enemies just add time for you. I believe every mission functions like RE5 Mercenaries where time is your main point gain. The wave game-type easily awards you plenty of time where 20 minutes is around 1.3-1.6 million for your final score. The wave game-type only shows up twice, though. I thought that there might be different types of games based on various point systems, but there only seems to one present. Difficulty is just adding armored Majini and enough bosses to the point of overkill (present in the EX missions).

A lot of the perks are not really usable because some will almost always be used over others. I'm not sure if the effects stack, though. If they did (i.e. 3x the reloading speed through main and level 3 effects), then maybe more perks could be considered useful. Unlocking weapon load-outs offers some variation and can serve as a means to balance each character. Too bad that it takes quite a lot of work to unlock them without play coins.

The knife is broken.

Just ordered the game for £25 and it should be on it's way soon.

I actually got the game on the 30th but haven't been able to post. I really enjoy this game. I've never been the best at Mercenaries so....it's taking me a while to get everything. I have a silly fear of Garradors so when I see one...I run. I also got the special 3DS case that came with the pre-order. My little sisters once got my 3DS and messed with the screen so it was a little loose. But now it's fine with the case. I just wanted to say that I think it's an enjoyable game.

Did anyone get the Dual Grenade Launcher that thing is epic! So fun and it is great against the bosses but the Red 9 you get with it only holds 3 bullets so much reloading its horrible!

First impression are good, a very fun and addictive game with fast-paced action. I'm digging the music and absolutley love the new animations for some of the characters. Claire and HUNK are my two fav characters as of now. Can't say much about the missions, it's just Mercenaries ala RE5. The Skills are a great addition though I've not unlocked many; I've always loved having perks on some kind to apply to characters. Haven't unlocked any more weapon loadouts but it's nice to see the VP70 back.

Graphics are great for a handheld title yet I will agree with everyone else, everything in the distance animates like ass. Enemies are even more lazy than they were in RE5 Mercs and even a few metres away will just lose interest in you and either stand idly by or walk away. The lack of the rest of the cast and the lack of any new stages is a huge disappointment.

Uhm, so the title alone "Mercenaries 3D" as well as the NUMEROUS reviews, direct quotes from capcom, and everyone everywhere telling you the game was nothing more than Portable Mercs wasn't enough to tell you that the game would have no storyline, and would simply be "Portable Mercs"?

For the life of me, I can't figure out how you were possibly surprised by this, or could possibly deduct points from the game in a review of it for lack of Story. That'd be like buying a Fighting game and ripping it for not allowing you to FPS deathmatch.

I don't see how anyone who is familiar with RE can buy a game called "Mercenaries 3D" and then be upset when the game they get is in fact just the mini-game mercenaries.

No problem with your opinions, just can't fathom how you can act surprised or hold it against the game for being portable mercs and nothing more. That was the sales pitch FOR the game. I, nor anyone else I know, didn't go into buy the game expecting anything more out of it than just that.

*shrugs*

Read V-rated's post after yours.

I knew and accepted that the game wouldn't feature a story. Case closed on that.
My point is, for a game dedicated solely to what is a mini game feature in other Re titles ( 3,4, and 5) it does a piss poor job trying to stand on its own. Its lack luster in content in all areas, i could go on but you get the point as many others have.

So therefore, my point was that since it doesn't have any story, it really has very little going on for it aside from being a very very slightly expanded version of what we already have in story driven games as Re 4 and 5.

In short, minigame which we already have played is expanded upon in the most minimal amount, primarily porting/ reusing characters, maps, weapons and modes from past games has no story, and suffers from many other issues to in conclusion make it a poor performing game in my opinion.

A little more effort into it and id be what we all wanted i assume, a standalone mercenaries game that 'can' stand alone...more characters, maps, weapons, modes, etc. This game reeks of a cheap sell.

I apologize if I misread your post. I saw your quarrels about the issues with the game itself and had no problem with that. It was simply the comments about lack of story and all that I read that I was baffled by and couldn't understand why someone would expect such a thing in a Portable Mercs game.

But, I suppose I misread your reasoning for mentioning and for that, I apologize.

I would also like to say, this game is really really easy.
