Capcom’s Keiji Inafune has told Eurogamer it’s aiming for Dead Rising to replace Resident Evil as king of IPs at the firm .

“The goal for Dead Rising 2 is to replace the Resident Evil franchise and become number one IP within Capcom,” Inafune told the site .

It was revealed by the exec earlier this morning we’ll hear the first info on Resident Evil 6 “shortly”.
Inafune also said if sales were good on Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 3 will be made.

“Until Dead Rising 2 sells we probably can’t start talking about spin-offs,” he said.

“If it’s received pretty well, yes we would consider a sequel. But at the moment we just don’t know "

Like someone said in THIA, this comes from the creator of Dead Rising. Of course the guy wants that to happen, but the reality tells otherwise...

Honestly I prefer Dead Rising to recent RE so that's fine with me.

I think DR1 was a way better game than any recent RE, and DR2 will probabbly destroy RE5 in terms of objective quality, but with that said I really doubt it will sell more.
