Never even considered this, lol. Good point.

From what I saw through the E3 trailer though, it didn't seem to have too many must-know plot connections to the first game. Though I did hear Willamette mentioned.

That angle shouldn't even be brought up nor is it a valid reason. Otherwise DR2 shouldn't be on the PS3 at all, and sequels to games should remain on the platform of origin.

As far as Capcom is concerned, just look at RE and DMC on the Xbox platforms.

Typical backdoor transaction with publishers basically, and I wouldn't have a problem with it if it weren't for the fact that they're not going to offer a demo of any sort on the PS3. Apparently, Inafune doesn't "believe" in demos.... and would prefer something like this where a publisher can charge users to make up their mind about a game

I never suggested that.

The only logical explanation why this isn't in PS3 IMO is because I think DR2 is separate from DR1 (storyline wise) and Case Zero bridges those games for the people who played the first. Can't see any other reason, unless Microsoft paid them for a timed exclusive.

Well, I didn't say you did. All I meant is that story continuity of any sort is not a reason to exclude content from a platform hence my examples of DR2 being on PS3, and other Capcom franchises on the 360.

Willamette is mentioned in DR2 in the cutscenes and even in the promotional site you linked in the general discussion board. So this is nothing more than an exclusivity deal with MS, and I doubt it's timed exclusive at all.

As a prologue demo for DR2, who's really going to want it after the full game is out?

Agreed with SG79, it's obvious MS paid big bucks to make Case Zero exclusive...
At first that pissed me off I admit it, being the PS3 my fav platform I would have preferred to play Case Zero and DR2 on it, but I also have a 360 and as far as i know almost everyone here is planning to get the 360 version so this is not really a problem fo rme, at least there is someone to play the game with... Don Melita? "big" Rod?

I'm kind of a platform purist so had I kept the 360, I would've gotten DR2 for it without a doubt just to keep the series on one platform.

Still, day one for me. It's one of the three last titles I'm buying before I hang it the gloves if you will

It's part of the game, far from a simple demo. Everything carries over. It is a prequel, so I want to play it before and after DR2 comes out. That's like saying you don't want to play a DLC chapter to the Biohazard series, because the next game already hit.

And yeah it's pretty obvious it is all about the bucks, just a view I hadn't thought of before. Makes sense perhaps as to why Sony didn't fight for it, so the angle may have some truth behind it after all. Definitely not the prime reason though.

How likely is it for DLC to hit an old game when the sequel is already out? I get your point, but I guess that will depend on the extent of the episode and of course, its pricing. If it is in fact a hefty episode at $20, then I wouldn't rule out a timed exclusivity.

That's certainly not cheap given that stuff like 2008's downloadable R&C game was about 4 hours long and $15.

Now that you mention it, it is surprising to an extent that Sony hasn't pursed any exclusives with Capcom for the past 2 years. They are in a position to do so given that all simultaneous Capcom releases have sold better globally on the PS3.
