Claire isn't any more "deep" than any other chatacter in the series. She just hasn't been in enough games for Capcom to oversexualize her.

Every major character has been in at least two games, with the exception of Sheva and Billy, who have been in one game.
Barry= RE1 and 3(only the end though)
Jill= RE1, RE3, RE5, REvelations
Chris= RE1, RE CV, REvelations, RE5, RE6
Claire= RE2 and RE CV
Leon= RE2, RE4, RE6
Wesker= RE1, RE CV, RE4, RE5
Rebecca= RE0 and RE1

According to the chart i made Rebecca and Barry also haven't been in enough games to be oversexualized either.

Claire is certainly not deep. But as a character she is more believable than most and her voice actor does a good job with her. It also doesn't hurt that Alyson Court has consistantly been Claire. I also feel Claire can humanize Chris a little bit. I mean, I like Chris a lot, and I feel he has more character than people give him credit for, but I think he needs to friggin' chill out a little bit. This is still one of my favorite scenes in Resident Evil:

Yep. She's also typically portrayed in more realistic fashions than the other main characters (a few scenes from CVX not withstanding). Having the same VA throughout the series also gives her more life than the other main protagonists.

What makes you say that?

To me it's obvious that in the beginning, Jill was simply created to be the token hot female character. Granted, Chris was just as generic and equally shallow, but I don't think it was as obvious as Jill. I also feel that she has so little personality. Over the series she's gained a bit more, only for her to be changed into nothing more than a swinging 3D ass in Revelations.

They could have done so much more with her in RE3, for example, but they didn't. She was dry, boring, and overly serious (just like Chris, her male counterpart). In RE5 they tried a bit, but she was constantly overshadowed by Chris and Sheva. It's like Capcom was afraid to give her a deep personality or something.

Glad to see Claire is ahead, and no surprise there are no votes for Sheva lol. I'm still bitter about how the end of RE5 played out with Sheva and Jill to be honest, Jill deserved that kill and if Capcom writes Sheva off it's going to be even more annoying.

I agree and Capcom really should have emphasized on their relationship more. You would think Chris woud have apologized for having Claire going through all the things he is considering some of his files state he was very protective. Most likely Claire told him everything about Raccoon City and Rockfort Isand offscreen and no doubt he wouldn't be very happy about it especially about Irons. Same thing for Harvardville. He could have at least said something in RE5 like "even my own sister was dragged into this" since Sheva mentioned her own family. We'll see if there are any references in RE6.

The Reunion scene in CV/X had more of a sadder tone which was understandable and I really wanted to like the one in DC but couldn't because it just jumped ahead.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Look at Patriotic Barry from Mercenaries 3DS. You try to tell me that isn't one sexy man. :wink:

And the thing with Claire is, she is perhaps the most "lively" character if that makes sense. I feel she is frightened at appropriate times and she is exhibits realistic and humanistic traits in others (not counting the CVX intro of course). I also have to agree with the good Detective when he says Jill is just becoming mindless fanservice. As a straight guy, I didn't used to mind it. But lately, not so much. She has so little personality to speak of. And it is making me dislike her heavily as time progresses. I sometimes don't understand why she is so popular.

While Chris is shallow and generic, I feel he does exhibit some sense of justice and he obviously has strong ties to his partners and obviously his sister. Plus I think him feeling very jaded and worn out with all the fighting in RE5 was a strong character trait (as well as a pretty normal feeling to have in that situation). I feel Claire being somewhat light hearted can balance out Chris' seriousness if they are in a scene together. If the rumors of Claire showing up in the ending cutscenes of RE6 are true, I hope she is playable in Mercenaries. Because she's really fun to play as in Mercenaries 3D.

I forgot about patriotic Barry!

I didn't used to mind Jill being pure fan service when I was younger, either, but I guess now I can see how blatantly obvious it is. Claire never really gave me that impression in any of her appearances.

I'd love to see Claire in RE6 Mercenaries, even if she isn't in the actual story. I liked playing as her in M3D, although I wish she had an instant-kill melee move like Krauser and HUNK. It was cool that even though that game didn't have Leon or Ada, they at least made one entirely new character design.

I agree. Code Veroncia is probably the game that shows Chris in the most human light. He really cares for his sister and it's really shows.

I think Chris comes off as having more character than Jill because of his Voice actor. Having the same person portary him and doing an excellent job at it really helps. In Re6 it will be Roger Craig Smith's 4th time voicing chris. He knows how the character thinks and feels.

I also though that Jill really started to become a "character" in RE5. However she took a huge step back in revelations when the hired that new VA. I'm sorry but Michelle Ruff is garbage at Jill's voice. Not interesting at all.

I agree, although I don't think her voice acting in Revelations is the only reason for such. The script in general made little sense; Chris and Jill could have been replaced with new characters without altering the plot in the slightest. Neither of them have ever been the most exciting of characters, and throwing them in Revelations just because Capcom thought fans of the series wouldn't buy the game without seeing familiar faces (if you can call Jill's face familiar) was just stupid.

But yes, Jill's voice actor in RE5 and Umbrella Chronicles (her name escapes me) was much better than the one in Revelations. Why Capcom would downgrade VAs so much after actually hearing emotion in Jill's voice in RE5 is beyond me.
