Dino Crisis 1 was superb..Resident Evil meets Jurassic Park in my eyes and gave us a heroine to rival Jill (Sorry I'm a Regina fan boy lol) had the classic survival horror ingredients..puzzles, limited ammo, scares with a pretty damn good storyline. Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Then we had Dino Crisis 2, again more puzzles, but not as much scares etc. The jungle setting was awesome and even though it focused more on Dylan it was still a pretty damn good game. Grabbing them combo points was pretty sweet too, kinda like what Resident Evil turned into do you not think, with the whole upgrade system? David had to be one of the best comic-relief type characters yet and the opening of the camp being attacked was awesome.

Nail in the coffin...Dino Crisis 3, my oh my what a let-down. After the ending of Dino Crisis 2 I was hoping to pick up with more Regina and Dylan, or even
Spoiler:
Dylan's daughter
but instead we have robo-dinos in space..what where they thinking? I tried so hard to like this game but I just couldn't get into it at all. Forgettable characters, rubbish plot and wasn't even on the PS2. It just lacked everything survival horror and turned into a shooting game with Dino Crisis lobbed on the front.

Anyone else think that DC3 was the complete downfall of what had the potential to be a brilliant (bigger) franchise?

Granted Dino Stalker was spun-off from DC I never really played them and view them as the Gun Survivor add-ons that Resi got

Ya DC3 was murder for the series. And the fact it was on Xbox seperated the fan base from even being able to try it let alone condem it. Maybe that was for the better though. What were they thinking..

DC3 is to Dino Crisis as RE5 is to Resident Evil. Okay, I'm going overboard but hear me out. DC3 is actually a passable action game despite a few short comings. It's pretty, somewhat fun and has some hilarious dialogue. It's just not a Dino Crisis title. It strays above and beyond the classic formula and even the advanced action of the second title. RE5 certainly wasn't that huge of a departure nor as big a failure, but it did pale in compairson to earlier titles and mix things up quite a bit. All in all DC3 destroys the formula, I won't argue that, but is still much more playable than some make it out to be. Also, with the great sales of the first two titles and AAA recognition, the series could easily be revived. RE4 engine anyone? It'd be perfectly fitting. Come on, DMC rebounded after DMC2, Dino Crisis can do it too.

It seemed a passable action game, but I (and I imagine many others) expected (and wanted) something more dino and less crisis. :kendo:

Meh, it was as big a let down as gaiden for me. Both could've been a lot better

I tried so hard to like Dino Crisis 3. I really, really did.

It just didn't work out. I sold the game the day I bought it. Complete trash. I have no idea what they were thinking.

I knew this game was doomed to fail the moment I realized it hardly gained any recognition. DC 1 and 2, though not as widely anticipated as the RE series (main attraction to it was the fact that it was done by Mikami), definitely had recognition. Dino Crisis 3 just silently came out and when I played the demo...well let's just say I regard DC 3 as the "killer" of the series. It's playable in it's own right, but it's really only worth one play through. I'm not even gonna credit it to the fact that it was on Xbox, because it still could have been good. It's just the game itself. A quick rush job. Like Yama said, DMC 2 failed but bounced back up with the godly follow up of DMC 3. I'm damn sure a Dino Crisis 4 can do the same. Coupled with the RE 4 engine, would make for a grand game.

Yeah Dino Crisis 1 & 2 were pretty well hyped, but i didn't even know of the third's existence until i saw it (rather cliched) in a bargain bin. I dived all over it, couldn't wait to play it

Muchos disappointment.

I think i've tried playing it twice, and both times i'd just given up. I'll give it another go eventually, i set my old X-Box up yesterday so it'll come up eventually.

I agree with Yama DC3 is not terrible its just not that good. Also in terms of other Action shooters available at the time Gungrave, Crimson Sea, and Gunvalkyrie were already out and were just way better.

DC 3 was also doomed by the fact that it was on Xbox. Its sad but non shooters did poorly on the console, and some games were bastardized to try and fit that stereotype, DC3 was one of them.

Heres to hoping we see a rebound.

They were trying too hard to keep up with other games in the same genre that were coming out during the same era, and rather than stick to what they were able to do, they took a big risk that didn't pay off.

I think Dino Crisis 3 should be shown to all aspiring game programmers as to how to NOT make a video game that is the second sequel to a major hit. Mind you, they probably thought the idea of dinosaurs on a space station was incredibly new or something, even though it was known for years that the inclusion of a space theme spelled the deathknell of lots of horror movie series that had come and gone years prior.

At least they tried to be original, in that they didn't just do another standard shooter thingy. And I never finished it, because it annoyed me badly. I am annoyed even more by the fact that the 360 does not read the disc.
