Second was it just me or is Norman's mutation way over the top?
On the contrary, i thought his mutation probably the best since the pre-RE4 years - and i thought the boss fights in RE4 were brilliantly done. If we want to talk about over the top mutations then Exella Gionne would be like a word!

Is there anything that man couldn't do?

Disagree. I think what happens within the confines of Revelations will more likely be continued in a 3DS sequel - i don't think the new characters did enough to warrant being called up to the first team sadly.

It's true that she was long overdue for a game in which she is the primary character we control. But Chris had a very minor role in Revelations as well. In fact, I think Jill in Alternative Edition has longer playtime than Chris does in Revelations.
Yeah this very much felt like the new guy's show i thought - wasn't much need for Chris and Jill to be involved other than to ensure the game earned it's place as a Resident Evil game.

My final thoughts upon completion...

Capcom really smashed it out of the park, surpassed every expectation i had of it - fully justified me buying another 3DS just for this game.

The perfect blend of old and new school which is something i never imagined possible since the series shifted directions.

I liked Rachel's "Nemesis-esque" stalking at points later on (even rewarding you for "stopping" her), but i wish it could've been used a bit more, with a bit more inventiveness too.

It says a lot about the game that there are still a few changes i'd made yet it's still so much fun.

Have scratched the surface on Raid mode too - perfect! Never really got into Mercs but Raid seems a lot of fun so far!

Norman's design is great, but I don't like his ability to teleport! That is too much.

Raid mode is fantastic! I spend around 6 hours in row in it. Much better than mercenaries.

Don't know yet. I finished Raid mode on normal (I think) but Chris's wetsuit is still closed. You probably need to finished Raid mode on hard or you need to accomplish specific mission.

Chris (Ship) costume is unlocked when you reach level 30 in Raid Mode.

Anyway, bought the game yesterday, beat it today. It was definitely a fun adventure and I enjoyed it. But, I am somewhat torn, mostly on the story. Gameplay wise and aethetics, etc. it's wonderful. They pretty much made classic RE in RE5's engine while still allowing RE5 innovations to be brought in as well. As Stu said, perfect mix of old and new. Though, I honestly could do without the rail gun fights.

I swear, when I got to the giant T-abyss monster at the end of the Zenobia part, I was like 'omeg are you serious? THIS is the final boss?! Give me a friggin' break!" Thank god it didn't end there.

Anyway, like I said, wonderful game overall, definitely the best game on the 3DS currently. And while Raid Mode is certainly fun and I will be enjoying it for awhile, I honestly don't see the game giving me an incredible amount of replay value in the coming months. It just doesn't seem to have the lasting appeal to keep me playing months from now, but, who knows.

Anyway, like I said, biggest gripe was the story. I'm kinda torn on it because I do like aspects of it, especially the fact they went into a lot more detail on the BSAA itself. And the story certainly kept me interested to keep pushing forward to wanna find out what happens next.

But, overall, the plot just felt kinda............out there? I dunno, it didn't really feel like what you expect from an RE game. There was just something about it that felt off. Add in all the new characters who all 'die' yet never actually die and all survive. It was just kinda..........weird. And as many mentioned, Chris and Jill's role in the game was mostly just to 'be there'. They didn't really have any connection to anything going on, and that was probably one of the other problems with the story itself. It honestly held little to no connection to anything previously going on in the RE universe. It was it's own little stand alone story that could easily be forgotten about and written off as non-canon if Capcom so chose and it wouldn't affect anything at all.

With each new entry in the series, I always look forward to seeing the continuation of the storyline and it's characters. But, with this game it's a prequel to RE5, so there's no real continuation and it's limited in what it can do because of that. And it just feels easily forgettable for that reason.

I dunno, usually by the time you get to the final boss fight, you're really invested in the story and the villain etc. that the final fight is incredibly immersive. From Birkin to Nemesis to Alexia to Wesker, they're great villains.

Revelations lacked a great villain though. The whole Morgan vs O'Brian thing just didn't really cut it and Norman was literally kinda just pulled out at the last minute to make a final boss battle and little else. I didn't feel invested in the fight or really care about him as a villain. Sure, his design was awesome but, that's about it.

Oh well, I've gone on long enough. Really enjoyed the game, it was an amazing experience. Storyline wasn't 'bad'. Just wasn't as exciting as I was hoping for. And the whole 'Revelations' tagline seems kinda trollish on capcom's part. Especially after that first trailer which literally had nothing to do with the game's storyline. But, at least that trailer made it look like there was some kind of 'revelation' to be had.

Anyway, regardless of my dissapointments here or there, I'd still give the game a 4/5 because the game itself is a wonderful treat.

Having problems with Rachel myself, I do just fine up until I meet up with Parker. I can dodge like nobody's business until I get to that room. What I think the best touch is so far, is the episodic vibe they give you, the "Last time on Resident Evil Revelations..." So far I'm enjoying the hell out of this game, just hope they give it a console release in a hurry.

BTW my copy was a misspelled copy as well heh, still can't believe the utter ignorance of that.

Ok, So I have just completed it.
WOW! this game has blown me out the water (no pun intended) First off I had my reservations about it being held on a ship, but I was totally mistaken, being set on a ship was a fricking brilliant idea.
The mood of the game had that great feel of the original 3 games in the series but with (in my opinion) the better control system of the later games.
I loved the way each chapter is set out as an episode with recaps as if it was a TV series.
I can't complain about the B.O.W's too much, although I do see some folks points on the idea that they are all quite similar and of boring design, but they do the job of freaking you out from time to time.
Jill's voice didn't bother me as much as I thought it was going to, and in fact by the end I actually quite liked it. The story was brilliant and I really do feel that could have been a number in the series.
The only thing that I hated about this game was the fact it was not on a major games machine like PS3/Wii/360. The graphics were strong and could have easily spread to the other gaming consoles, infact I did find myself shouting at the tiny screen cursing it for not being a PS3. I do hope they bring this out for PS3/Wii at a later date. Capcom are missing out on millions of pounds, this is every RE fans dream game, and hardly any of them will own a 3DS.
But as I say a wonderful cross of new and old, and I loved this game so fricking much I am considering naming my first born "Revelations"
So Jessica what part will you play in Resident evil 6? and are you part of the same Organisation as Ada?
