Been reading a Resident Evil 3 Strategy Guide again. Looking at the Dog section of the Enemy guide, I saw a sentence or too suggesting that when you encounter a dog, it is best to unequip your weapon and carefully walk around it. Although I DOUBT this tactic works, can anyone confirm this? I won't be around a copy of Resident Evil 3 for a while.

Hmmm never tried that before but I'll try and see what happens.

I believe your onto somthing, i notice the dogs are very calm even when i run around with the knife, i usually just run right up to them and knife them to death, now that i think about they only come running if you have a gun out and run yourself, im gunna test this abit more
good find

Thanks, by the way it was the Bradygames (Take Your Game Further) strategy guide I found it in.
I immediately doubted the idea when I saw it, but I had to find out if it would really work, or if the author made an error.

I just tried this out. It only worked for a short amount of time then after a few seconds the dogs attacked me. I don't want to say it doesn't work because I'm still not sure. Unless it works for somebody else I don't think doing this helps very much. Running works best for me.

Just tried it on the PS1 and encountered the dogs in the first half hour of the game. I tried standing still and walking very slowly with no weapons equipped and they attacked me after about the first 5 seconds- so I personally debunk the theory.

Idk, I doubt that the creators of RE:3 would try to incorporate docile dogs like that in the game. Once you reach a certain standpoint or cut a certain area during gameplay- monsters are programmed to immediately pursue your character. Besides, even though dogs can be territorial- I highly doubt that a ferocious- blood hungry zombie dog would be territorial. I tried it though and it's a pretty interesting idea. Thanks for sharing. :3

This works for me, or maybe im just lucky but the dogs are way less aggressive if you stay calm if you get to close they might jump at you and speed up but for the most part they give me zero trouble in this game

Reminds me of the dogs in Silent Hill; how you could avoid attack(sometimes) if you approach them from the side and move around calmly. From my experience in RE2 and 3, they seem more apt to attack if you run towards them head on. This of course, doesn't work the same way in REmake; those dogs are aggro no matter what.

I think that that was originally a feature in re 1.5. I think it was supposed to show that the police dogs retained some of their training but it was dropped.
