"After the mixed reception yet unarguable financial success of Biohazard 5, it was no surprise that Biohazard 6 was in the works. The only apparent question remaining was which formula the new title would follow. A split community is no easy task to appease, so which route did Capcom take? Is the series heading back to its roots or is it loosing its series staples? What if I said both?"

Very well said man. :)

Glad to see you are in the enjoyed it camp as so many have outright trashed the demo after playing for just a few minutes.

I wish I could say that you summed up my thoughts completely, but you went well above and beyond what I was thinking.

My personal feelings about them are as follows:

Leon's scenario minus the portion where you are forced to walk, it's paced perfectly and (if the full game follows the demo)will be the perfect homage and return to classic horror with an added bonus of being fully functional when a battle occurs instead of having to just stand there and fire or fire a couple of shots and move to a new location to pop off more rounds. The whole scenario as played was well done with a few minor details lacking. When I first stepped foot into the dining hall my first thought was "Oh crap, where are the zombies going to attack from?". I was literally on guard on my first playthrough in this area because of the fact that I just did not know what was going to happen, and the overall sense of uneasiness walking through a gigantic empty room with lighting flashing and dead silence throughout.

Chris' scenario was a huge jump from Leon's. In place of the tension and atmosphere of the first scenario, there was action and chaos everywhere in the second. Though I didn't have as much fun with this portion as I did with the first, it was different brand of fun. I too hope that this portion (which seems to be slated to take up most of the game) will have some slower moments. I did enjoy all the different moves and options to deal with the enemies in front of me. Hopefully the finished version of the game will shed some new light and life to this area.

On to my second favorite portion of the demo, Jake and Sherry. Immediately thrust into a chase sequence with this huge cyborg (lack of a better term) of a B.O.W. This portion of the game was paced just as good as the first, started out with a frantic chase through a causeway and a hectic escape from this giant monster, to a more subdued area in the warehouse with a few enemies to take care of while collecting valuable items to further your skills in battle. While I may not be perfect just yet with Jake's abilities I can certainly see that they will be put to good use in conserving ammo. His power attack is outrageous to see in action and some of his moves are hilarious to say the least.

All in all, should Capcom stay true to this build and further it by adding the necessary accouterments this game should be a challenger for game of the year. It has almost everything you could want in a Biohazard game, plus it appeals to the everyday gamer as well.

It's your standard it doesn't have exactly what every gamer wants in a game. It doesn't lead you by the hand (well it does if you let it, so that's out) and give you one hit kills immediately after starting the game. I guess???

Some people just can't be helped.

I think that a change in RE could be very beneficial to the series. As long as it doesn't change into CoD.
