There's nothing necessarily wrong with a clone story as long as it's fleshed out properly.
Alice clone plot of the Paul Anderson Resident Evil= BAD
Clone plot of "The Island"=GOOD

But well, both are different circumstances though. Clone army with the same purpose vs. good clone, bad original. Ugh, the Alice clone army was thrown in and out of the plot so quickly that it was pathetic, they had no real significance at all, other than being previously test subjects who all wanted to gang up on one man. And that failed HORRIBLY. In comparison to that, while not being the same type of story, "The Island" was an awesome clone movie, that didn't throw the idea of clones in your face until a horrible truth was realized and then it built upon that till the end.

The reason why I hate those movies.

...? Did you play the games from the start? That's been happening since RE1.

I have, but just kidding since I want RE to get more serious!! =) no more opera!!!
But from the trailer it seems to get more darker and gloomy than RE5. (It also could be only that trailer, it have made that way but the real game is different...)

We're all acting like cloning wasn't even done already. As forgetful a character as Sergei Vladimir was, he is unfortunately a canon part of the series. And since he was compatible with the T-Virus 100% to create tyrants, they made 10 clones of him. And like some have already mentioned, in a series where you have super humans throwing missiles with such speed they explode on contact, genetic cloning is not so far fetched.

Putting all the talk of clones to one side for a moment, I think Capcom have hit upon a very interesting scenario with the Chris vs. Leon thing. If you think about it, people have been waiting for over a decade for these two to pair up, brothers in arms against bio-terrorism and all that, both a mutual respect of each other for previous events, Leon saving Claire etc. You'd have thought it would create an unbreakable seal of trust between both men during the events of the game.
And yet now we have this woman who let's say for argument's sake is the real Ada and for unknown reasons she has become the villain of the piece. She is using her signature manipulation to break this trust between the two men in order to weaken her opposition and achieve her goals. All of a sudden, all the mutual respect for each other is thrown out of the window.
Capcom have the potential to take these characters to very dark, unexplored territory here, make this last the majority of the game and set up the stage for a truly shocking finale. Chris as we all know seems to have thrown the rulebook out of the window given what's happened to his team. He looks a broken man, more so than he was after Jill was taken from him in Bio5. He is more interested now in revenge rather than justice. He's prepared to commit cold-blooded murder in order to avenge the deaths of his men.
And on the other side of the coin we have Leon. A man, who like Chris fights for justice and yet the one weakness he has portrayed throughout the series is his love for Ada. I would like to see her manipulation of him slowly turn him to the darkside as the game progresses. I'd like for Capcom to make her have Leon believe that Chris is the true bad guy, that he is trying to murder his one true love.
I'm not saying the finale should be a Chris vs. Leon fight to the death or anything like that, but it is a theme I hope is present for a majority of the game and not just a quick scuffle, a brief argument then everyone is best friends again. I hope the end of the Captivate trailer is just a tease for what's really in store.

^ I sincerely think that scene between Chris and Leon is just a fan-service for the forum boys who always talk about "who would win". Though I could see more scenes where Leon prevents Chris from harming Ada and Chris getting fed up to the point where words won't even get through to him. Maybe that's where the talk of "main character dying" might come into play.

Clones in moderation can be accepted, but to get carried away with it is something I don't want to see.

"Yeah, we got Ada's first set of clones killed so people would stop looking for her. We sent corpses everywhere to please the ones she betrayed. :)"

Silly example, but you get the idea of what I mean by getting carried away. I personally think there will not be a serious confrontation between Chris and Leon. More of a "What the hell are you talking about!!!" and Leon explaining why Ada is important to whatever mission he is on.

I do hope they do expand on the depth associated with the metaphysical struggle of Chris vs. Leon. Yet, considering they mentioned RE6 was supposed to be a Leon-centric game until one of the concept artists ran up and presented a Chris vs. Leon(with guns pointed) picture, and they thought it was cool-looking; I wonder if the scenario was added for nothing beyond that. Because it was "cool" and fans might think so as well.

As for Ada clones:
I'm sure some of us wouldn't mind having our own personal Ada clone. Oh yeah.
